Weekly Wrap Up // my kid drives me crazy #WeekinReading
Hello readers! I hope you all are well and had amazing week. My week had been terribly slow. I didn’t get much time to read with all discussion posts I’m trying to write for a challenge. I bet once this challenge is over I’m going to be short of discussion posts and go back to my usual posts.
To make it more difficult my daughter is getting naughtier day by day. Can you believe she doesn’t even have nap in noon! She wakes up in morning and sleeps only at night that too not early, like always, around midnight or after midnight. I don’t know from where she get that energy. Whole day she wants me to be by her side. She still isn’t speaking what she wants, she comes and tugs my hand or clothes, asking me to get up up and leads to things she wants. She is not letting me sit for 15 minutes straight.
She loves playing with flat bread dough and look at this picture what she did with flour at the end. SHe wouldn’t even let me sweep all the mess she made.
And this is just one thing! We bought play dough for her after this and it didn’t last for 3 days. She made small particles of it and scattered them all around the house… bed, sofa, kitchen, living room, bedroom, veranda and it got dried and wouldn’t get back to its original state. Same happens with food she eats, I had to change bedsheet thrice in single week.
It’s getting tiring so we decided to find summer camp or play group and get admission for a month. Because at this rate either I’m going to go mad or I would have to take break from everything.
It’s not like she doesn’t know how to speak. She knows her ABC, 1 to 10, colours name, few things like chocolate, biscuit, juice, broken rhymes but she will not speak conversational words like ‘I want to eat’, ‘I want water’, and all normal thing.. not even mom, dad, grandma and grandpa, which is unbelievable! At least, she would learn to speak normal things at this kind of group with kids of her age.
Anyway so here is how my week in reading and blogging was –
Last Week I Read
The Ancient Evil Versus The Good Boy by Zachary Finn
This was interesting paranormal novel with horror elements. I liked voice of main character, Jon, and his narration telling his story that started with getting pit bull dog, Desmond, from shelter he worked in and how that started chain of paranormal events. I loved bond between Jon and Des. It was interesting to read why and how an ancient evil has attached itself to dog, what it wanted and how Jon was going to save himself and his dog from it. legends and myth related to sky burial and cliff burial in Nepal was surprising. I wasn’t expecting it in story. It was best part in the book. I enjoyed this book but I don’t know if I would give it full stars. I cannot pinpoint why for now. I have think more that.
The House Plant by Jeremy Ray
The House Plant was unique, refreshing, and heartwarming short story that reads of all age would enjoy. It was told from a plant’s POV. I enjoyed reading feelings of plants and message of perception, kindness, love, loss and grief was amazing. If you missed you can check out my review -> HERE.
Currently Reading
Rea and the Blood of the Nectar by Payal Doshi
I’m in middle of the book. So far they Rea and her friend Leela has portal themselves into this new world, Astranthia, mentioned in synopsis and found Xeranther and his fairy friend, Flula who agreed to help them. First 100 pages were on earth about Rea’s feeling towards her twin brother, Rohan and her mother who is always partial to Rohan and almost ignores Rea and he likes or wants. Suddenly when on the night of their birthday when they turned 12, Rohan disappears without any trace, like their father. Through palm reader Rea gets prophecy through which she started paying attention to her nightmares that lead her to portal and into this parallel world. There was so much to take in from here, some weird name and words and whimsical world… I have feeling her mother and grandmother knows more but I’m just shocked they are not willing to share anything. I’m curious to see what happens next and how Rea is going to get her brother back on Earth.
Next I’ll be reading
Ruin and Rising (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy #3) by Leigh Bardugo
The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.
Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.
Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.
Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.
I just can’t wait to read this any more. So I an start Six of Crows.

Your daughter is so cute. I’m sorry she’s been so difficult lately though. 🙁 Maybe her going to school or a summer camp and interacting with other kids will help. <3

It’s still a year to start her school and all activity classes we contacted are not enrolling kids who are not in schools. I hope we can find something to keep her engage for few hours.

Your daughter is so adorable, Yesha! I remember the days of Play-Doh – and all the pieces ground into the carpet. One of my sons wasn’t a good napper when he was a baby – and twenty-one years later he rarely naps. The other was just the opposite. He was here this weekend and took a nearly two hour nap one day. I hope for your sanity this is just a phase for your daughter!

I hope so, Teri! I’m also not a napper so half blame is on my genes. 😄

Hahahah your daughter is a little devil! I am so curious to see how much she’ll change over the next years. Or if she’ll keep all this energy! 😛 You definitely need more peace and quiet though. 😉 Stay safe!

I’m just waiting for her to learn to speak, start her schools next year and let teacher handle her hyperactivity. I’m sure she’s going to get many red marks on report card. 😄

My reading this week was practically non-existent. Between finishing up the grading of students’ Essay #1s and taking student calls, it caused me to re-read the same paragraph over and over. Plus I am on antibiotics for an infection and I feel rough. I know kids can try your patience, but…

I hope you’re feeling well, have relaxing time, and this week turns our better.

Your daughter is adorable, and the mischief she’s making is a sign of intelligence. Enjoy these years!

Your little daughter is just adorable, Yesha! Gosh, I remember those days. They were such a pain, but so many good memories too. Enjoy them all. ❤️

Thank you, Mischenko! She sure doesn’t look cute when she screams, have of those tantrums, and most terrible throwing things and raising hands on us when we ignore her tantrums. 😪 I just don’t know how to make her understand things that it’s wrong.
I hope you have great week in reading too! ❤

My oldest daughter used to do the same thing. She would just throw these ridiculous tantrums and act totally out of control. Finally what I did, which seems crazy, is throw myself down on the floor and act like I was hurt or crying when she would do it. It totally threw her off and she would stop. I don’t know exactly how it worked, but it did. She just grew out of it after that. To this day she’s the only child out of our five that was like that. It’s amazing how different every child is. I hope you get it figured out and that she gets easier to handle over time. Hugs ❤️

I tried fake crying, didn’t work with my kid. I do feel lack of socialization with kids of her age might have affected it or something and also lack of activities for her hyperactive nature might be a problem too.
