May in life and reading #Monthlywrapup
Hello readers! I hope you are well and had a marvelous May. May has been both good and bad.
Here is how May in life and reading was –
May in Life
I hate summer and high temperatures here. It forces us to coop up in the air-conditioned room but this time we couldn’t even do that. We could tolerate rats and cockroaches but then A.C. stopped working. The house we’re living in is really old and all things including A.C. belongs to the owner which is as dated as the house. We repaired it six times in the past two and half years we were living in the house and now it is in no condition of repair. We were anyhow vacating the house in July thinking we will live at my parents’ home for one month but no A.C. made us move to my parents’ house earlier!
We haven’t moved all things to my parents’ house yet as my brother and his wife are expecting a baby and there will be baby shower on the 11th of this month but once the baby shower is over we will slowly move out things clean the place and handover keys by the end of June.
A week ago the weather improved a lot. A cyclone passed through here that brought rain and for the first time in my life, it snowed in my hometown. My parents said it’s the fourth time in their lifetime. It made us pretty excited. Of course, it’s not going to make much difference, we still need fans and A.C. but the weather has been much much better these last 3-4 days.
We got our house registration papers and we are finally expecting our house keys next week. I also got physical books from publisher, two of which was children’s book that my kid loved. Surprisingly I could read more this month. Here is what I read-

Twisted Games is a gripping, addictive, and swoon-worthy forbidden romance with an amazing plot and characters. I wasn’t comfortable with some scenes but otherwise I enjoyed this even more than Twisted Love. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Twisted Hate is engaging, addictive, touching, and emotive enemies-to-lovers romance with amazing characters and their touching back story. I wasn’t a fan of hate sex in this but I loved the characters, especially Jules and her backstory. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Twisted Lies is gripping, swoon-worthy, slow-burn, fake dating romance with amazing plot and characters. I loved this most in this entire series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Grabber is an interesting genre mix middle-grade fantasy with an amazing concept and plot but I didn’t enjoy the execution. However, this can surely fascinate young readers. ⭐⭐⭐
In the Bear’s Den and Strangus Derangus are fun, cute, and lovely illustrated children’s stories of the adventures of an Indian boy and his love for animals. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Widow’s Weeds is touching, emotive and heart-wrenching contemporary about domestic abuse but I didn’t enjoy the slow pace and romantic complications. I loved Viola’s story and her perspective but I didn’t enjoy the continuation of Maisie’s story but the theme and layers in this are excellent. ⭐⭐⭐.5
Deadbeat Druid is imaginative, thrilling, and well-written urban fantasy with journey to the underworld and amazing character growth. It took me time to get hooked to the story and I wish certain aspects were more explored. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Daydreams is emotive, realistic, dramatic and fast-paced character-driven reunion contemporary fiction with redemption arc and complex characters.⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
The Lord of Stariel is interesting, dramatic, and fast-paced cozy fantasy with amazing setting and concept but the mysteries and twists and turns were predictable. We know characters are on surface level, I could understand them but there wasn’t much emotional depth. Maybe that is because it’s the first book in a series. I will how next book turns out. I might rate this 3.
Best book of the Month
Best Character of the Month
Christian – Twisted Lies
Jules – Twisted Hate

Wow, it sure sounds like you have a lot going on in your personal life right now, Yesha. How happy you will be when you finally move into your new home. Good luck with all that upcoming stuff. You had a good reading month as well. I love when I can binge read a series. I hope June is a better month weather wise and that you get everything done you need to do.

Thank you, Carla! These next few months are going to be more busy and looking at how things are going I might have less time to blog but I hope I can manage everything.

That is understandable, Yesha. I hope it all goes smoothly.

House moving to my parents’ house is this month. We just got our house keys so interior is working on furniture and lights for next two months. Yes, it’s great we could move to my parents’ house for these couple of month until our house is ready.

Sorry to hear about your AC woes. Hope you love your new house. I like Ana Huang and Twisted Hate was my favorite in that series. I like her latest series a bit more. Hope June is also a great reading month.

Sorry about the temps! We’ve been experiencing some high temps as well–at least for the upper mid-west. It’s the humidity that gets to us. You have a very full June coming–take care.

I’m so glad you have a place to go with AC. I can’t even imagine not having it in the summer. And I’m not even going to think about the rats and roaches 😳

Yes, living in hometown has its advantages. I happy we are not going to live in that house any more. I can’t wait for y house to get ready, it’s only thing I’m highly anticipating this year.

Living in a place where snow is such a common sight, I always giggle at the thought that some people never actually experienced it hahaha Congrats on your brother for the life achievement and I hope June will turn out to be a cool month of reading. You better find that AC quick, y’all have deadly hot weather!

Summer are worst here. Temperatures are so high that I bet we can survive in Sahara and Senegal. For now we have moved to my mom’s house. My parents have big house that can accommodate us with our belongings and no one is going to rent their house for just two months as we will be moving to our own flat in August end. But I’m happy I no longer have to tolerate rats and roaches.

Snow – that’s amazing, Yesha! Glad you got a break in the weather and even happier you’re finally getting the new house keys.

3 of those were short reads but I also didn’t expect to read 7 fulll novels. I think it’s because of twisted series, it was addictive and fast reads. It took me only 2days to finish one book in that series so I could easily finish 3 books in less than two weeks with reviews. It’s one of the reasons I love fast paced and addictive books and series. I hope you had great May and wish you amazing June.
