Synopsis

Charming, deadly, and smart enough to hide it, Christian Harper is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suits of a gentleman.

He has little use for morals and even less use for love, but he can’t deny the strange pull he feels toward the woman living just one floor below him.

She’s the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can’t solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can’t refuse.

Every monster has their weakness. She’s his.

His obsession.
His addiction.
His only exception.

**

Sweet, shy, and introverted despite her social media fame, Stella Alonso is a romantic who keeps her heart in a cage.

Between her two jobs, she has little time or desire for a relationship.

But when a threat from her past drives her into the arms—and house—of the most dangerous man she’s ever met, she’s tempted to let herself feel something for the first time in a long time.

Because despite Christian’s cold nature, he makes her feel everything when she’s with him.

Passionate.
Protected.
Truly wanted.

Theirs is a love twisted with secrets and tainted by lies…and when the truths are finally revealed, they could shatter everything.

Review

Twisted Lies is slow-burn and swoon-worthy last book in Twisted series featuring Stella and Christian story.

Writing is the same as in previous books with alternative perspectives from Christian and Stella. The plot is even better. This time it’s slow burn romance with the mystery of who Stella’s stalker is. As usual, I loved the characters and their backstory, I was curious to know about Christian’s past and what he is hiding from Stella and what he lied about. The stalker situation added its tension in the story and at the same time author kept the focus on the growing friendship and relationship between Stella and Christian until the climax.

I liked Christian in previous books. He is most grey character I read in this series after Alex. I feel he was very much like Alex minus deadly icy stares and rough in sex. He is charming, playboy in expensive suits, in control, and calm that hides his darker side. I can’t help but agree with what Rhys said in Twisted Games. “He is a wolf in expensive clothing“.

Moral and love don’t exist in his dictionary. No one would want to be on his wrong side. It was both chilling and jaw-dropping to see what he did when someone crossed him or annoyed him. He blew up the car of a businessman who tried to steal his parking at the club! 😮I think the stalker was a fool to think he could get away with harassing Stella once he knew Christian is dating her.

It was amazing to see how Stella could bring lots of change to him and make him believe in everything he didn’t believe before. It was so lovely to see Stella wasn’t wrong about him after all, he is softy inside (or at least for Stella). I absolutely loved how he helped Stella with lowering rent and then offering her to live in his apartment when stalker problem came forth. I don’t like overly possessive guys but in this, I didn’t mind his possessiveness (even when he killed anyone who touched Stella!). It was amazing to see how this fearless intimidating man was brought down to his knees by Stella.

Stella is lovely and pure soul. She is introvert, shy with controlled and collected front that hides her lack of self-confidence that she developed because of her overbearing competitive family. It was sad to see how much her family made her doubt herself. One thing she loved most is her privacy and it was sad to see how her stalker made her vulnerable to the point of having panic attacks.

I loved Christian for making her bold and brave, believing in herself; for taking care of her when she felt vulnerable. While I didn’t like how Christian’s research on Stella broke trust between them, I also think Stella overreacted a little. I mean when you look at Alex and Rhys who did all research on Ava and Bridget’s friends it’s kind of the same thing but it didn’t hurt her as she didn’t know about it. What Alex and Rhys did was also a breach of Privacy but Christian was caught. When he explained it, it made sense but comparing him to her stalker wasn’t right. I liked how she realized it even though it was in the worst situation.

Romance, like I said is slow burn. I enjoyed fake dating between them. It brought them together and made them understand each other more. There were many fabulous moments between them. My favorites are – when Christian helped Stella when she had a panic attack, when he boost her confidence with her first shoot, helping her with her fashion dream, taking her to her dream destination, both standing up and defending each other against Stella’s parents, Christian’s apology, and how he wrote those letters. Their chemistry is simply amazing throughout the book.

Did I mention Christian rented the whole inland also agreed to pay 70k for the necklace just so he could have moments with Stella? It’s super sexy and romantic. It’s one of the reasons I loved Billionaire Romance. Thank the lord I didn’t read these books before my marriage or there would be some issues with setting standards and for guys (read ‘my husband’) achieving them. 😂

Yes, sure the sex scenes are the same as in previous books but somehow I didn’t feel uncomfortable (maybe I don’t mind that anymore!), whatever the reason it was really well written in this book and that’s why (and also because of amazing plot and characters) this is my favorite book in the series.

Climax is amazing. There is lots of things happening in this part, break-up, apology, heartbreak and then the stalker finally showing up which I was anticipating from the beginning… I couldn’t have guessed his identity and when it was revealed, I was shocked. It made sense why he wasn’t caught so far and how he escaped Christian’s tight security. It was outrageous to see who the traitor turned out and I’m not sorry for what Christian did to the traitor and everyone who had a hand in helping the stalker. As for what he did to the stalker, it was chilling.

End is my favorite. I absolutely loved seeing all four friends and their partners and also their kids (Alex’s kids are so adorable and I’m not surprised Rhy and Bridget’s kid is so mature for her age) together in the end. I wanted more of it and it’s sad to say goodbye to them. This series sure exceeded my expectations.

Overall, Twisted Lies is gripping, swoon-worthy, slow-burn, fake dating romance with amazing plot and characters.

  • Lovelight Farms (Lovelight #1) by B.K. Borison – small-town fake dating romance
Lovelight Farms is cozy, comforting, fluffy and heartwarming small-town fake dating romance with lovely characters and setting. Disclaimer – Many thanks to publisher for eARC via NetGalley. This post contains affiliate links. Synopsis Two best friends fake date to reach their holiday happily ever after in this first romantic comedy in the Lovelight series. A pasture of dead trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloom’s dreams. In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm she’s loved since she was a kid, Stella enters a contest with Instagram-famous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, Stella might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes. There’s just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on her application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Only…there is no boyfriend. Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just stopped by for some hot chocolate and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process. But fake dating his best friend might be the best Christmas present he’s ever received. Review Lovelight Farms is fluffy, adorable, and delightful romance with lovely characters and perfect setting. Stella Bloom owns Lovelight Farms, a Christmas tree farm, but is having a series of bad luck – missing shipments, dying trees, a family of raccoons destroying pumpkins, and other things- that leads to financial issues. To find a solution of all her problems she enters a social media contest hosted by an influencer hoping to win cash price. The influencer loves a good story and even better if it’s a love story. So while filling out the form Stella lies she owns the farm with her boyfriend… that she doesn’t have which makes her produce a fake one for one week during the influencer’s visit. The only person that could help is her best friend, Luka, but she secretly have feelings for him for almost a decade. They both were content to be friends but a fake relationship makes it hard to repress feelings anymore. It was interesting to see how they will confess their feelings, if they will take their relationship to the next level, or if it will ruin their friendship. There was also a mystery of who was trying to sabotage Stella’s farm and why. This definitely has a hallmark movie vibe with lots of Christmas spirit, with friendship, love, and holiday magic at its core. Writing is heartwarming, lovely, and steady-paced with first-person narrative from Stella’s POV. Stella is lovely, kind, and compassionate. I admired her for what she achieved with her farm and how determined she was to make it successful even though her financial situation is badly affecting her savings. She had trouble asking for help and also had abandonment issues because of her father and death of her mother which made her not taking her friendship with Luka any further. I loved how she slowly accepted love and support of both her friends and Luka. It was great to finally see her realize how much Luka loves her and it isn’t just because he is her best friend or because of fake relationship. I’m surprised how kind she was to her father and also the person who was sabotaging her farm. Her relationship with her stepmother and half-brother was lovely. Luka was perfect throughout the book. I can’t believe how patient he was. He has been showing Stella he loved her in every small way and he knew Stella needed time and had an abandonment issue and so he took it slow and was patiently waiting for her to take next. All the small things he did for her and how he supported her is touching. Beckett, Layla Stella makes amazing trio of Lovelight Farms. Beckett is a grumpy handsome lead farmer who loves trees and fertilizers more than people while Layla is refreshing and sweet just like all baked food she makes at the farm. I can’t wait to have their stories in next books of the series. Other characters of the charming Inglewild small town are also fun to read. Inglewild makes the perfect quaint small town with its gossiping busybody but supportive and colorful town people, Inglewild high school with no shortage of notorious teenagers, an intimidating town sheriff, and a cafe owner who wouldn’t make your coffee right unless you give a unique and right compliment. Best of all I loved how they were like a huge family not just with Stella but with every other person living in the town. Another favorite part of the book is Stella giving Evelyn the influencer tour to Lovelight Farms. I agree with Evelyn, I wouldn’t want to leave the farm after seeing it in its Christmas spirit, her description of the farm “North Pole had a love child with Narnia” is so apt. Romance is slow burn with friends-to-lovers trope. It was heartwarming to read how Luka and Stella slowly falling in love over the past ten years. Banter is fun and chemistry is hot and sizzling. What I loved most is how they handled fake dating and their real feeling. They were upfront about how they didn’t want it to ruin their friendship and handled the confession maturely. I loved Luka’s perspective in last chapter and also the bonus chapter with his perspective in the end. End uplifting and beautiful with the proposal.
