Synopsis
Two best friends fake date to reach their holiday happily ever after in this first romantic comedy in the Lovelight series.
A pasture of dead trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloom’s dreams.
In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm she’s loved since she was a kid, Stella enters a contest with Instagram-famous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, Stella might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes. There’s just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on her application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Only…there is no boyfriend.
Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just stopped by for some hot chocolate and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process. But fake dating his best friend might be the best Christmas present he’s ever received.
Review
delightful small-town fake dating romance
Lovelight Farms is fluffy, adorable, and delightful romance with lovely characters and perfect setting. Stella Bloom owns Lovelight Farms, a Christmas tree farm, but is having a series of bad luck – missing shipments, dying trees, a family of raccoons destroying pumpkins, and other things- that leads to financial issues. To find a solution of all her problems she enters a social media contest hosted by an influencer hoping to win cash price.
The influencer loves a good story and even better if it’s a love story. So while filling out the form Stella lies she owns the farm with her boyfriend… that she doesn’t have which makes her produce a fake one for one week during the influencer’s visit. The only person that could help is her best friend, Luka, but she secretly have feelings for him for almost a decade. They both were content to be friends but a fake relationship makes it hard to repress feelings anymore.
It was interesting to see how they will confess their feelings, if they will take their relationship to the next level, or if it will ruin their friendship. There was also a mystery of who was trying to sabotage Stella’s farm and why.
This definitely has a hallmark movie vibe with lots of Christmas spirit, with friendship, love, and holiday magic at its core. Writing is heartwarming, lovely, and steady-paced with first-person narrative from Stella’s POV.
Stella is lovely, kind, and compassionate. I admired her for what she achieved with her farm and how determined she was to make it successful even though her financial situation is badly affecting her savings. She had trouble asking for help and also had abandonment issues because of her father and death of her mother which made her not taking her friendship with Luka any further.
I loved how she slowly accepted love and support of both her friends and Luka. It was great to finally see her realize how much Luka loves her and it isn’t just because he is her best friend or because of fake relationship. I’m surprised how kind she was to her father and also the person who was sabotaging her farm. Her relationship with her stepmother and half-brother was lovely.
Luka was perfect throughout the book. I can’t believe how patient he was. He has been showing Stella he loved her in every small way and he knew Stella needed time and had an abandonment issue and so he took it slow and was patiently waiting for her to take next. All the small things he did for her and how he supported her is touching.
Beckett, Layla Stella makes amazing trio of Lovelight Farms. Beckett is a grumpy handsome lead farmer who loves trees and fertilizers more than people while Layla is refreshing and sweet just like all baked food she makes at the farm. I can’t wait to have their stories in next books of the series. Other characters of the charming Inglewild small town are also fun to read.
Inglewild makes the perfect quaint small town with its gossiping busybody but supportive and colorful town people, Inglewild high school with no shortage of notorious teenagers, an intimidating town sheriff, and a cafe owner who wouldn’t make your coffee right unless you give a unique and right compliment. Best of all I loved how they were like a huge family not just with Stella but with every other person living in the town.
Another favorite part of the book is Stella giving Evelyn the influencer tour to Lovelight Farms. I agree with Evelyn, I wouldn’t want to leave the farm after seeing it in its Christmas spirit, her description of the farm “North Pole had a love child with Narnia” is so apt.
Romance is slow burn with friends-to-lovers trope. It was heartwarming to read how Luka and Stella slowly falling in love over the past ten years. Banter is fun and chemistry is hot and sizzling. What I loved most is how they handled fake dating and their real feeling. They were upfront about how they didn’t want it to ruin their friendship and handled the confession maturely.
I loved Luka’s perspective in last chapter and also the bonus chapter with his perspective in the end. End uplifting and beautiful with the proposal.
Overall, Lovelight Farms is cozy, comforting, fluffy and heartwarming small-town fake dating romance with lovely characters and setting.
I highly recommend this if you like,

The idea itself of fake dating just sounds like a step away from inevitable romance hahah Glad you enjoyed this! 😀

I enjoy romance and that too in fantasy but I liked family drama and dynamic more in this.
