Fen has always hated being the centre of attention.

She’s always been happy to stay in the background as long as she has a good supply of books to escape into. That’s her kind of romance – the fictional sort where she can read about other people taking a chance on love, but she doesn’t have to risk her own heart.

But that was before Ethan Fox arrived in the village and turned her world upside down. Ethan is a leading light in the local amateur dramatics theatre company and Fen knows he’s way out of her league.

But when the popular village Christmas pantomime hits a crisis, Fen and Ethan find themselves thrown together. Can Fen overcome her shyness and find the courage to step on stage and save the day?

Christmas at The Little Duck Pond Cafe follows story of Fen, the introverted and shy baker of the Little Duck Pond Cafe, whom Ellie recruited at the end of the first novella.

Fen has crush on Ethan ever since his performance at Brambleberry Manor in second novella. He invited Fen to join local Amateur dramatics group but being the center of attention isn’t something she is comfortable with. However, seeing Ellie and Jaz happy in their relationship she too wanted her happily ever after and for that she decides to step out of comfort zone and joins the club.

But it’s not just Fen’s story unfolding. Sunnybrook village is bustling with activity, including developments in Ellie and Jaz’s relationship, which soon encounters trouble in paradise.

Maisie’s mom return to town. Zak’s ex signals potential complications as she aims to rekindle her relationship with Zak, leaving Ellie uncertain about her place if Maisie’s mom’s presence becomes permanent. The pressure of these events puts strain on Ellie and Fen’s friendship.

Jaz’s boyfriend, Harry, seems more invested in his bachelor lifestyle than their romance, leaving Jaz contemplating leaving both him and Sunnybrook.

The narrative weaves through the anticipation of whether Fen’s romantic aspirations will materialize with Ethan, or if it will lead to disappointment. Additionally, the fate of Zak and Ellie’s relationship, and whether Jaz will indeed depart from both Harry and the village, adds to the intrigue.

Despite the upheavals in their friendship I loved how Fen helped salvaging Ellie’s relationship. As for Jaz, Harry was acting childishly all these time and she was right to make decision to leave him but in the end it turned out well for her too.
