April 2026 Wrap Up – Uneventful but also productive

April 2026 was apparently the month of me accidentally picking up only 4-star reads and honestly I’m not complaining as this reading month had range. Outside of books, April also felt oddly balanced in a very quiet in real life way. It was Uneventful but also productive.

April 2026 Life Highlight

April was the last school month before summer break officially starts in May, and thankfully it went smoothly. But the heat? Absolutely not smooth. By the end of the month, temperatures were touching 43°C here, which honestly felt illegal even though we are used to extreme summer heat.

Reading was definitely slower this month, but surprisingly not because of a reading slump or mood issues. Most of my time went into crochet projects, and I’m actually okay with that. One thing I really want this year is to slow down and stop treating hobbies like productivity competitions. If I read less because I spent time making things with my hands, that still feels fulfilling to me.

I also tried blog hopping a little more this month, and it went much better than last month. I’ve missed casually reading other people’s thoughts and reviews instead of only focusing on my own content. There’s something really comforting about reconnecting with the blogging side of the book community again.

For the summer, I’ll mostly be staying at my mom’s place since my kid’s roller skating and swimming classes are close to their home.

Books Read in April 2026

The Bone Season– My Best Read of the Month ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was everything I expected from Samantha Shannon and somehow still more. The world-building is layered, complex, and slightly overwhelming in the best way. It throws you into a dystopian clairvoyant society where people with supernatural abilities are feared, controlled, and categorized. The amount of detail in this world honestly scratched the exact part of my brain that loves immersive fantasy.

Offside– Hockey Romance Done Right ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Offside was dramatic, fun, and exactly what I wanted from a sports romance. The chemistry between the main characters worked immediately for me, but what really sold this book was the banter.

Love and Other Brain Experiments STEM Romance With Actual Chemistry ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you enjoy romances where intelligent characters still feel emotionally messy and human, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Good Wives– Comforting, But Not Quite Little Women ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Reading Good Wives felt like revisiting old friends. There’s something deeply comforting about returning to the March sisters and seeing how they’ve grown since Little Women. I can’t pretend this hit me the same way the first book did. Still, there’s undeniable charm in spending more time with these characters.

White Nights– Quiet, Lonely, Beautiful Heartbreak ⭐⭐⭐⭐

White Nights was exactly what everyone says it is: beautiful heartbreak. This follows story of a lonely dreamer who experiences love over the course of four nights, and despite its simplicity, it carries so much emotional weight.

Spicy Little Curses– Unexpectedly Fun ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Out of all the books I read this month, Spicy Little Curses might have surprised me the most. I previously read Pen Pal by the same author and honestly didn’t enjoy it, so I went into this novella with very low expectations and it turned out short, spicy, and entertaining.

May 2026 Plans

As for May reading plans? I genuinely have none. And for once, I’m not stressing about it. I’ll probably keep mood reading and pick up whatever feels right in the moment.
