Review
I grew up reading Champak Magazine in my regional language and remember devouring each issue in no time. So, I was thrilled to receive The Greatest Champak Stories—a curated collection of stories from the magazine—for my child.
The Greatest Champak Stories features 21 delightful tales, a mix of animal and human characters, packed with humor, fun, and valuable life lessons. The language is simple and kid-friendly, and the bright, colorful illustrations add to the charm, making it hard not to fall in love with the stories.
My daughter and I read two stories every night as part of our bedtime routine. She loved listening to them and even read some on her own. I, on the other hand, cherished our post-story chats—watching her curiosity bloom as she asked about new words and tried to uncover the meaning behind each tale.
The collection is a treasure trove of heartwarming messages: the value of true friendship, the beauty of effort over outcome, adventures gone wrong, pranks of ghosts, better behavior, inner beauty, consequences of pranks and more… every story brought a new adventure.
My favorites? Clingy Friend, Adi and Ramlila, The Hall of Magical Mirrors, Muscle Mess, Damru’s Shop, and Translation Trouble.
Overall, The Greatest Champak Stories is a delightful collection for children age 6+ and a nostalgic trip for adults who grew up with Champak. It’s a perfect blend of old-school storytelling and timeless wisdom, wrapped in joy and color.
