A Week of Celebrations and Progress : Weekly Recap (Dec 23, 2024)
Hello Readers! I hope you’re doing well and wish you all a fantastic holiday season. For me it was, A Week of Celebrations and Progress. While we don’t celebrate Christmas traditionally, we do enjoy festive activities in the society, on the 25th. This year, I’m especially excited to see how my daughter embraces the festivities. We’ll be joined by my brother-in-law and his child, as well as my brother and his child, making it a truly special Christmas for her. Check out my week in life and reading in this post-
A Week of Celebrations and Progress
Week in Life
Last week was wonderful! It was the second week after our vacation, and I’m happy to say we’ve settled back into our routine. I’m particularly proud of my daughter’s smooth transition to school. She’s been behaving beautifully and managed to catch up on a significant amount of missed schoolwork in just one week.
It was such a joy to hear no complaints from her teachers and to see her participating enthusiastically in the school’s Christmas and Mother’s Day celebrations. Previously, she would hesitate to take part in events like these, often protesting or misbehaving. This time, there was no need for explanations or coaxing—just pure joy and excitement on her part.
The week ended on a high note with a visit to my parents’ place, where my daughter spent time with my brother’s child, followed by a lovely and fun evening at Sundervan, a children’s nature center. It was the perfect way to wrap up the week.
Books I read Last week
I finished Under the Mistletoe Collection, which I’d started after returning from our trip. It’s an ideal holiday read—cozy, steamy, and filled with hope and love. The shorter length made it perfect to enjoy even during a busy laundry days. You can check out my review below under “Blog Posts Last Week”.
I also picked up Persuasion (the Penguin Select Classics edition I received before our trip). Although I hadn’t planned to read it, I found myself in the mood for it and wanted to review at least one of the three Jane Austen novels I received from publisher. Transitioning from modern romance novels to Austen’s classic prose was a shift, and it nudged me out of my comfort zone. But I still enjoyed it I’m looking forward to exploring more of Austen’s works now that I’m a little acquainted with her writing, perhaps that’s a bold statement, but we’ll see!
Currently reading
I’m starting Sense and Sensibility while also reading Cross-Country Christmas. I expect Sense and Sensibility to take a bit longer, but I hope to finish both books by the weekend.
Next I’ll be reading
If I find more time, I’ll read Before Your Memory Fades– the third book in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series. I’m aiming to complete the series before the year ends.
