5 Books Set On Sea or Ship
Ahoy readers! I was thinking to write this post for long time but then I forgot totally until I recently read a book set on ship. I did gather lists of books set on sea, on ship and on Island. It was difficult to separate books set on ship and set on sea as all books I read explored sea and were on ship as well so I’m combining the list and here are 5 Books Set On Sea or Ship-
5 Books Set On Sea or Ship
(click on title to read review)
The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #2) by Rick Riordan
How can I start list without my favourite book and author! This is middle grade urban fantasy where Percy Jackson set out on quest with his friend, Annabeth and new found half brother, Tyson, to find the the Golden Fleece and save the Camp Half-Blood and its deteriorating magical border that protects camp from monsters. As title suggest there were many sea monsters they encountered on journey to the Polyphemus’ island. This was filled with Greek mythology, action, adventure and fun.
The Holiday Cruise by Victoria Cooke
This I read in 2018, maybe first book I read by the author and as title suggests it was set on cruise ship. This was a holiday romance where main character takes job on cruise ship to get over cheating husband and a decade old business going down with no staff and no customers, pitiful eyes of villagers and more over losing the house. Exotic destinations cruise stopped by were amazing and it’s a perfect summer read.
Georgana’s Secret by Arlem Hawks
This was regency romance where main character disguised herself as boy on ship. It was interesting to read life at sea and challenge of convoy mission in era of Napoleonic war, storm, disease, battle, insubordination, crew’s displeasure and even mutiny. This taught me many ship terminology that I wasn’t aware of. I heard about powder monkey for the first time in this book.
The Way Home by Julian Barr
This was based on Greek Mythology. We all know how Odyssey led Greek warriors within the walls of Troy by hiding in horse but what happened after that, after they destroyed Troy from within. Well this story told about it wonderfully.
Sea of Kings by Melissa Hope
This was middle grade fantasy and what made it fun was the crew of the ship were all preteen around 13 years old or younger and only one character knew how to sail the ship as his father was sailor but didn’t have the experience. These kids did amazing. The war and action on the ship was great to read and you also get many mythical creatures.

I love books set on a ship! I don’t know if I have a favourite though, I just like the fact that the characters are confined to a thight space I think 😃

My boys used to love the Percy Jackson novels, but I haven’t read them since they were younger. Have some friends who still read the series.

I’m currently reading a book where ships play a big part. It’s called The Lost Sister by Kathleen McGurl and one of the characters works as a stewardess on the Olympic. I fear she may end up on the Titanic!

That sounds interesting historical fiction. I hope you enjoy it.
