Weekly Wrap-Up (17/8/’20) #WeekinReading #WeeklyWrapup
Hello readers! Last week was good in reading, blogging was a bit slow and I need to slow down this month as we are planning for a change in life. Next few months are going to be busy and I’m really excited about it.
What I read last week-
The Night Swim by Megan Goldin
This was amazing, atmospheric thriller with heavy and hard subject. I loved writing and the way story was told through podcast chapter, letter and investigation. I enjoyed this more than The Escape Room by Megan Goldin. Read my review➡ HERE.
Little Beach Street Bakery (Little Beach Street Bakery #1) by Jenny Colgan
This was lovely, feel good chick-lit. I loved setting of Mount Polvearne, Polly’s Beach Street Bakery and her breads. Characters were likable and realistic and best thing in this book was Neil- the puffin. I’m looking forward to read next book in series.
Rodrick Rules (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #2) by Jeff Kinney
This was fun. I enjoyed this but not as much as first book. I liked Greg’s middle child problem and his relationship with his friends, parents and both siblings. Many can relate to Greg in this book.
Currently Reading-
The Marriage Game by Sara Desai
A high stakes wager pits an aspiring entrepreneur against a ruthless CEO in this sexy romantic comedy.
After her life falls apart, recruitment consultant Layla Patel returns home to her family in San Francisco. But in the eyes of her father, who runs a Michelin starred restaurant, she can do no wrong. He would do anything to see her smile again. With the best intentions in mind, he offers her the office upstairs to start her new business and creates a profile on an online dating site to find her a man. She doesn’t know he’s arranged a series of blind dates until the first one comes knocking on her door…
As CEO of a corporate downsizing company Sam Mehta is more used to conflict than calm. In search of a quiet new office, he finds the perfect space above a cozy Indian restaurant that smells like home. But when communication goes awry, he’s forced to share his space with the owner’s beautiful yet infuriating daughter Layla, her crazy family, and a parade of hopeful suitors, all of whom threaten to disrupt his carefully ordered life.
As they face off in close quarters, the sarcasm and sparks fly. But when the battle for the office becomes a battle of the heart, Sam and Layla have to decide if this is love or just a game.
I love this cover. I just started this and that first chapter with marriage resume truly shows how Indian parents are like. I have seen mixed review on this but it’s not that common to read Indian culture in books.
Next I’ll be Reading-
The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton
In 1935 three women are forever changed when one of the most powerful hurricanes in history barrels toward the Florida Keys in New York Times bestselling author Chanel Cleeton’s captivating new novel.
Everyone journeys to Key West searching for something. For the tourists traveling on Henry Flagler’s legendary Overseas Railroad, Labor Day weekend is an opportunity to forget the economic depression gripping the nation. But one person’s paradise can be another’s prison, and Key West-native Helen Berner yearns to escape.
The Cuban Revolution of 1933 left Mirta Perez’s family in a precarious position. After an arranged wedding in Havana, Mirta arrives in the Keys on her honeymoon. While she can’t deny the growing attraction to the stranger she’s married, her new husband’s illicit business interests may threaten not only her relationship, but her life.
Elizabeth Preston’s trip from New York to Key West is a chance to save her once-wealthy family from their troubles as a result of the Wall Street crash. Her quest takes her to the camps occupied by veterans of the Great War and pairs her with an unlikely ally on a treacherous hunt of his own.
Over the course of the holiday weekend, the women’s paths cross unexpectedly, and the danger swirling around them is matched only by the terrifying force of the deadly storm threatening the Keys.
I have seen many positive reviews on this one and many readers like author’s other books as well so I’m excited read Chanel Cleeton book for first time.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know in comments what you read last week, what you are planning to read next, and if you have read any of these books.
Happy Reading!

I know so many people love the Wimpy Kid series, but I just can’t seem to get into it. I don’t like Greg as a character and the cheese incident in book one was so disgusting, I never picked up book two. But every time I mention this, people can’t seem to remember the cheese, haha!

Haha, that cheese thing was silly thing but I do remembering students used to tease each other in my school days in the same way only difference was instead of cheese it was some goo or gunk something dirty. I see many don’t like this series but at the same time I can see why kids like this series and characters are realistic. Kids do begave like characters do in this book.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid! My youngest son loved those books and was so excited to meet the author at a local bookfest several years ago.
