Detective Nosegoode and the Kidnappers is second in the series.

This time Cody is famous and so is in danger…

Cody’s name and photo has been published in the book ‘Portraits of Extraordinary Dogs’. Detective Nosegoode is receiving many letters of greetings and compliments and also offers for his extraordinary dog, Cody. But one day Detective receives a mysterious letter inviting him to an isolated place of the town. Out of curiosity detective does has he was told in the letter and gets nothing, but when he returns to home Cody is nowhere to found.

Cody is kidnapped…

Detective Nosegoode is determined to solve this mystery and save his beloved dog.

Who kidnapped Cody? Who is the person behind letter? Why they abducted Cody, what’s their motive? Will Detective Nosegoode be able to find him in time?

Detective Nosegoode and the Kidnappers is classic children’s mystery, second in series about retired Detective Nosegoode and his friend Cody who is most extraordinary dog, he can talk. It is sleuthing mystery for children with beautiful sketches as illustrations. There were also information from the first book at certain places for readers who haven’t read first book, so this book can be read solo.

Mystery was really good in this one. There were no clues to find out kidnapper except letter they sent. Letter was very funny there were so many spelling mistakes that might amuse children. Detective followed clues very cleverly and little Cody was also pretty smart playing along with kidnappers to find out what they were up to. Even apart, they made great sleuthing team. The incident tested their love for each other and trust as well.

I liked wise advices and thumb rules detective followed in the book. Specifically that of Hippolytus Whiskers which was also there in the first book.

“If only two extra people know about a crime, that’s good. If there’s only one person, that’s very good. If there are none, that’s perfect.”

The little twist in the climax was brilliant, I couldn’t see it coming. End was also nice. Book was fast paced and engaging from start to end. Young readers will love Cody and Detective Nosegoode and with them will love to solve this puzzle. There’s not much I can say about the book just that I can’t recommend this highly enough.

Overall, it was tremendously good, entertaining, and clever sleuthing mystery for young readers.
