Review
Digging Dr. Jones is a fun and adventurous romance that blends romance, treasure hunting, and personal growth into a fast moving and entertaining story.
The book follows Adriana Jones, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a bracelet that turns out to be wrongly delivered. What seems like a simple mistake quickly pulls her into an adventure when she learns that the bracelet belongs to Andrew Jones, an archaeology professor who is on a quest to uncover the lost treasure of a pirate named Augustine Perez. Adriana ends up joining Andrew on this treasure hunt, not just for the thrill of the chase but also because the reward could solve her financial struggles, which are standing in the way of her dream to open a boutique wine store.
As Andrew and Adriana spend more time together, it is not only the puzzles and dangers of the treasure hunt that become more complicated, but their feelings as well. Watching Adriana wrestle with her self imposed no men and no love rule was interesting, especially when Andrew slowly starts to challenge everything she believes about herself and relationships. A big part of the tension lies in whether Adriana will allow herself to take a risk, trust someone, and believe she deserves love.
The writing style is light, fun, and engaging, which makes the book an easy and enjoyable read. The plot is entertaining and the treasure hunt is filled with twists, clues, and unexpected turns that keep the story moving.
I genuinely enjoyed the characters and the overall premise, and the first half of the book was especially strong. It was fast paced, exciting, and full of promise. The second half, however, slowed down for me, mainly because of Adrianaโs repeated doubts about relationships and how easily she lets one absolute douchebagโs words interfere with her happiness. That part tested my patience more than once.
Andrew, on the other hand, is consistently wonderful throughout the book. He is intelligent, passionate about his work, and deeply ethical. He cares more about doing the right thing than about money, which immediately sets him apart. What I loved most about him was the way he treated Adriana. He saw her in a way no one else ever had and made it clear that her bloodline, childhood, or background did not define her worth.
He gave her credit for solving most of the puzzles during the hunt, which felt incredibly refreshing and empowering. Even when Adriana makes mistakes and Andrew is clearly annoyed, he never lashes out. He stays calm, communicates logically, and handles conflict with maturity. Honestly, this level of emotional intelligence is rare, not just in real men but also in fictional ones.
Adriana is a character you want to root for. She has been through a lot, and her childhood and past have shaped her into someone strong, resourceful, and fiercely protective of the people she loves, especially her brother. Everything she has achieved, she has done not only for herself but also to provide stability and security for him. That devotion says a lot about the core of her character.
The most frustrating aspect of Adriana, however, is how deeply she allows her exโs words to cut into that strength and dictate her choices. Watching her let those words control her sense of worth and happiness was disappointing, especially when she deserves so much more. That said, I loved seeing Andrew slowly break through her emotional walls and help her realize that she is enough, she is worthy, and she deserves love.
The romance is a slow burn and very much on the hotter and spicier side. The adventure elements add beautifully to the chemistry. Crawling through jungles, graves, and tight spaces does not just push the plot forward but also forces Andrew and Adriana closer, both physically and emotionally. Their connection builds naturally through shared danger, trust, and teamwork.
The Augustine Perez subplot was another highlight for me. Through Andrewโs research and discoveries, we slowly learn about Perezโs life, his love for his wife and family, and the choices he made. It was genuinely fun to piece together where he might have hidden the treasure and why. This subplot added depth to the story and made the treasure hunt feel more meaningful rather than just a chase for money.
While Adrianaโs constant self doubt and fear about her future with Andrew became repetitive, I appreciated how everything came together in the climax. The resolution felt earned, and the final stretch of the book was packed with action, adventure, and that satisfying thrill of uncovering the treasure. The ending itself was good and wrapped things up in a way that felt complete.
Overall, Digging Dr. Jones is a fun, adventurous, and entertaining romance with Indiana Jones vibe that blends romance, treasure hunting, and personal growth into a fast moving and entertaining story.

I had to laugh over that title, lol – very clever. This sounds like a fun one, Yesha, but I’m with you on the relationship doubting. I recently finished a book where one of the MCs constantly did that, and it drove me bonkers.

Yes, we get it the character has problems up to like 30-40% of the book but after that I just want them to move on. It kind of gets repetitive at some point and drives me crazy.
