June 2025 Wrap Up – From Tragedy to Turning Pages

Hello Readers! I hope you’re all well and had joyful June. June 2025 started with promise but had many ups and downs with some bad news, proud mamma feeling, and taking the courageous step. Check it out in this June 2025 Monthly Wrap Up post.

Life in June 2025

The month started on a good note, but midway through, an unimaginable tragedy struck. A plane crashed in a residential area of my city—just minutes after takeoff. It hit a medical students’ hostel, and since the aircraft hadn’t gained enough altitude for any evasive action, the impact caused a massive explosion.

Everyone on the plane perished, along with many students, their families, and others present in the hostel. The estimated death toll was nearly 300. Unbelievably, one person survived—their seat was flung out through the emergency door during the crash.

For almost a week, we were glued to the news. The entire city was in shock, speculating and theorizing what might have gone wrong. Authorities have not yet released an official explanation. Since it was an international flight headed to London and a Boeing aircraft, it drew global attention.

I’ve never been afraid of flying—and I’m still not—but now, every time I see a plane overhead, there’s an involuntary instinct to watch it closely, just to make sure it’s not coming down on my head.

Another personal worry this month was my mom’s health. Her blood pressure has been consistently high, and her echocardiogram and ECG results weren’t encouraging. She’s now on new medications and under regular monitoring. While she was checking her BP at home, I used her machine too—and found out mine was also high. I had high BP in the third trimester of my pregnancy, and thought it was under control since, but clearly I need to monitor it more closely now.

On a brighter note, the rains finally arrived, offering relief from the intense heat. The weather has been pleasantly mild for the past couple of weeks. I’ve been working out at home consistently and even managed a few swimming sessions with my kid.

A highlight of the month was my kid’s school annual function—this school organizes it at the beginning of the year, which I think is smart, since academic work is lighter in the initial months. This time, she wasn’t in the dance performance but was cast in a drama. She had just one line, but watching her on stage was amazing! I was surprised by how confidently she performed—and even more so by the fact that she had memorized everyone else’s lines and was reciting them at home.

Another milestone: I finally uploaded a video to YouTube! I’ve started posting weekly wrap-ups every Monday, focusing on books. These are practice runs to help me get comfortable on camera. I still feel awkward, and I’m experimenting with different formats—whether to plan or be spontaneous, whether to shoot in one go or in short clips. It’s a lot of work, and editing is a beast, but I’m happy to have taken the first step I’ve been putting off for four years. (Links below!)

Book I Read in June 2025

June 2025 Wrap Up

I kicked off the month with a new series — The Crown of Nyaxia — a vampire fantasy that hooked me right from the start. The first book, The Serpent and the Wings of Night, gave Hunger Games meets The Cruel Prince vibes. I was all in for the blood-soaked vampire world, a fierce and fearless female MC, relentless twists, and breakneck pacing. It’s dark, dramatic, and deeply immersive — think court intrigue, brutal characters, and a romance crackling with pain and power.

I wasn’t sure I’d like Raihn (the male MC) — his moral compass seemed… flexible. But by the second book, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King, not only did he win Oraya’s heart, he won mine too. His redemption arc hit just right. And Oraya? Still an absolute powerhouse. This sequel was high-stakes, steamy, emotionally intense, and had me devouring every chapter. Definitely the best book of the month.

Then I switched gears to Northanger Abbey. Honestly? Not my favorite Austen. The plot felt a bit too straightforward, and while the characters were charming, they didn’t quite hold a candle to those in Emma or Persuasion. But I did love the gothic satire and parody vibes. The writing was clever — just not the most memorable Austen for me.

That honor goes to Pride and Prejudice. Hands down, not just my favorite book this month, but the best Austen I’ve read so far. The characters, the drama, the social tension — it’s witty, emotionally layered, and totally unputdownable. I also watched the 2005 adaptation and loved it. I finally get why it’s such a timeless classic.

Next up were two summery contemporaries by Ali Brady — The Comeback Summer and Until Next Summer. Both made for perfect seasonal reads.

The Comeback Summer is heartfelt, emotional, and uplifting. It follows two sisters, Libby and Hannah, as they tackle a 12-week challenge that tests them in every way. The self-growth theme, second chances, and laugh-cry balance hit the sweet spot. I especially loved the honest, relatable sibling dynamic.

Until Next Summer was warm and full of heart — a story about deep-rooted friendship between Jessie and Hillary. Their bond carried the entire book, and the nostalgic camp setting added extra charm. It’s a story about forgiveness, growth, and second chances, wrapped in cozy vibes.

Lastly, I read Champak Stories: Volume 2 with my kid. I haven’t written a full review yet, but just like Volume 1, this was a delightful collection of 21 short stories. Beautiful illustrations, relatable situations, and meaningful life lessons that spark conversations between kids and adults.
