April 2025 Wrap Up : From Slow Reads to Summer Feels
I hope you all had an amazing April — mine was a strange mix of slow days and blink-and-it’s-gone weeks. When I look back on the month, it feels like April barely stopped to wave on its way out. Check out life highlights, books read and plan for May in this April 2025 Wrap Up.

April 2025 Wrap Up
Reading-wise, I didn’t get through as many books as last month, and it somehow felt like I was reading in slow motion. Life definitely had something to do with that! My daughter’s new school started at the beginning of April and wrapped up just before the month ended — now we’re officially on summer break.
Watching her settle in has been a highlight: she was excited to go every day and was making friends, though the longer school hours have been a bit of an adjustment (for both of us!).
We did hit a few speed bumps — like her barely touching her lunchbox, despite me packing all her favorites. Between school and after school activities, our days were packed, and even though waking up an extra hour early gave me more time, I didn’t quite anticipate how much it would wear me out.
Still, April gifted us plenty of sweet family moments, including a fun day out with my parents and daughter last weekend.
We closed the month with a flurry of summer prep — registering my daughter for swimming lessons and summer camp. She’s thrilled about learning to swim, and honestly, I’m excited for her too

The Love Remedy— A warm, witty, and emotionally intelligent historical romance. Perfect for slow-burn lovers, grumpy/sunshine addicts, and anyone who adores fierce heroines with big hearts and even bigger brains. ★★★★½
The Lady Sparks a Flame— A touching, layered, and joyful historical romance that handles trauma, redemption, and female resilience with heart. ★★★★★
King of Sloth— A delightful, sexy, and emotionally rich addition to the series. With sharp banter, a slow-burn romance, and layered main characters, it’s impossible not to root for Sloane and Xavier. ★★★★
The Seven O’Clock Club— An emotionally intense contemporary with a magical realism twist I did not see coming. ★★★★★

If You Give a CEO a Chance— A warm, witty, and satisfying conclusion to the Aspen Grove series. It’s packed with heart, humor, healing—and a hero worth melting over. ★★★★½
The Valley of Fear— A dark, gripping classic mystery with a razor-sharp plot and some devilishly cunning characters. One of my favorite Holmes novels—clever, intense, unforgettable. ★★★★★
His Last Bow— Another brilliant Sherlock Holmes entry, serving up cleverly constructed mysteries with suspense, depth, and a dash of philosophical insight. ★★★★½

Agassi and the Great Cycle Race— A delightful, feel-good story about perseverance, friendship, and finding joy beyond winning. With humor, heart, and a feathery sidekick, it’s a charming read for kids—and a nostalgic nudge for adults. ★★★★★
Seeker of Truth— An inspiring, eye-opening read that shows how even small actions can spark big change. A powerful story to share with children, teaching courage, persistence, and standing up for what’s right. Highly recommended for all ages. ★★★★★

Plan for May
My reading goal for May: 6 books — most of which will be Emily Henry titles.
With summer vacation here, we’re staying at my mom’s place — conveniently close to the community pool and summer camp. It’s shaping up to be a month of splashes, sunscreen, and plenty of chasing my kid around — though you can bet we’re staying indoors when the midday sun turns into a furnace!
Oh, and let’s not forget: MANGO SEASON! I fully plan to eat my body weight in mangoes, no shame.

Have you read any of these?
What was your favorite read of April?
Just in case you missed,,,
- Mahayoddha Kalki : Sword of Shiva (Kalki Trilogy #3) by Kevin Missal – action-packed and fast paced finale
- Satyayoddha Kalki : Eye of Brahma (Kalki Trilogy #2) by Kevin Missal – chaotic but entertaining
- Dharmayoddha Kalki: Avatar of Vishnu (Kalki Trilogy #1) by Kevin Missal – mythology-inspired fantasy

I’m so happy for your daughter and all of you that her new school has been a great experience. I agree, April flew by and I was shocked that May was here before I could blink my eyes. We are finally starting to get warmer weather here, in fact it has been in the 80s the last two days. I know we are already halfway into May, but I hope it has been good so far, Yesha.

Thank you, Carla! It was great to see changes in her and that too without any fuss and shadow teacher. I’m so happy and I hope it stays same throughout the year. Summers are always terrible here. It’s 100+ (max was 111 in the first week of May) so we stay inside A.C. room unless we have to go out.

We will hit the 90s, but it is the humidity that does me in. I do spend a lot of time inside with AC on, but not until July usually.

That hour earlier makes a big difference, doesn’t it? I hope you adjust though, so it becomes “normal” 🙂
Cheers to May being a good month.

Thank you, Teri! It’s going good so far, only if my first read of the month didn’t take so long to finish it would have been perfect beginning.
