Adventures of Little Shambu

Dum Dum to the Rescue is fun and entertaining third and last installment in the Adventures of Little Shambu series. Like previous books, this is 6-in-1 chapter book with easy writing, cute illustrations, adventurous and adorable characters, and all stories subtly address animal rights issues.

Shambu, his best friend, Shanti, and Shmbu’s dog, Dum Dum’s exciting adventure started with the title chapter in which Dum Dum rescues fox and homely chickens. This story focuses on the poor conditions of hens in a poultry farm and how happy hens lays delicious eggs. It was fun to see Mama Shambu getting a spacious chicken coop and hens to prove her point. Me and my kid loved this chapter the most.

Two adventures of mischievous mice are set in a school. In one story Little Shambu finds a missing lab rat that shows how some labs treat animals poorly and experiment on them while the other story is about mayhem created in an annual function by mice that shows the poor conditions of animals in a pet shop.

In the last two stories, we see more of little boy’s imagination in which Little Shambu rescues animals by exposing the circus owner for not following the law against using animals in the circus and encounters an alien in his room on a stormy night.

I loved the last picture story of how Little Shambu met Dum Dum.

As previous books, it was fun and entertaining to read animals’ thoughts, Shambu’s kindness towards animals and his frindship with his dog Dum Dum.

Overall, Dum Dum to the Rescue is entertaining, cute and lovely children’s fiction that every kid would hae fun reading.
