Weekly Wrap up // Seasonal cold made the week tiring

Hello readers! I hope you are all well and had a great week. Last week I said I’m getting better with cold but then my daughter caught it and husband and last weekend I caught it again. It’s getting irritating now and school sent my daughter back in the middle of the week telling don’t send her until she is fully well. Now, I don’t mind keeping her home but she wants to go to school and play with kids even though she is having runny nose and mild coughing. She wouldn’t eat or sleep properly unless we take her out of the house! I could finish only 1 book wrote couple of posts and rest of the week went in taking care of myself and my family.

Last Week I Read-

Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians #3) by Kevin Kwan

This was great final book in series, in fact, it was the best in whole series. I enjoyed the conclusion and loved knowing matriarch of the Young family more. With her on deathbed, there was sure to be lot of drama. I loved Astrid. She and Charlie had to go through lot of trouble. I hated Michael even more, he was horrid and he definitely didn’t make it easy for Astrid. I enjoyed this series and it’s sad to say goodbye to characters. Review will be up this week.

Currently Reading-

Lahore (The Partition Trilogy, #1) by Manreet Sodhi Someshwar

In the months leading up to independence, in Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Vallabhbhai Patel are engaged in deliberations with British Viceroy Dickie Mountbatten over the fate of the country. In Lahore, Sepoy Malik returns home from the Great War hoping to win his sweetheart Tara’s hand in marriage, only to find divide-and-rule holding sway, and love, friendships and familial bonds being tested.

Set in parallel threads across these two cities, Lahore is a behind-the-scenes look into the negotiations and the political skullduggery that gave India its freedom, the price for which was batwara. As the men make the decisions and wield the swords, the women bear the brunt of the carnage that tears through India in the sticky hot months of its cruellest summer ever.

Backed by astute research, The Partition Trilogy captures the frenzy of Indian
independence, the Partition and the accession of the states, and takes readers back to a time of great upheaval and churn.

I still need to read last 100 pages of this one and I think I’ll finish this today. I liked some things in this like why the independance was sped up to be withing two months even though deadline for British was 12 months away and how they decide to go for partition and divide Punjab. I need to see how Nehru and Sardar Patel are going to unite more than 500 princely states into India in just two month. Definitely near impossible task, after Conrad Corfield’s statement but it was good to see Mountbatten working with Nehru and Sardar Patel.

Next I’ll be reading-

I sure need something light and fast and I might read these-

The Trouble with Half a Moon by Danette Vigilante

Ever since her brother’s death, Dellie’s life has been quiet and sad. She lives with unspeakable guilt that the accident may have been all her fault.

But Dellie’s world begins to change when new neighbors move into her apartment building. Miss Shirley with her wisdom, and Corey, a five-year-old boy who is in desperate need of love and protection. Can Dellie find the strength to do for him what she couldn’t do for her brother— save him?

Fading Stars : A Short Story Collection by Tanmay Kulkarni

When the world shuts down, stories come out to play.
These are stories of people, who end up looking inwards instead of around, pondering the meaning of it all in the middle of their mundane, transcendental lives. Letters are exchanged, sleep becomes the enemy, things- people, ideas of people, love, faith die and sometimes, it becomes okay and sometimes there isn’t enough time. There are fathers and friends and Gods and soldiers, all looking for someone who understands.

Thank you for reading! Let’s chat…
