Weekly Wrap Up #Weeklyupdate #Weekinreading

Hello Readers! I hope you all are well and safe and had amazing week. My week had been a little better. I changed my daily schedule, woke up early to write post and catch up with blog hopping and didn’t open laptop until I had time at night. I found reading along with other house work better that trying to blog hop along with other work. Last weekend we had family function from my husband’s side. We spent whole day there and for that I scheduled post for John Eyre and I couldn’t blog hop after the post was up. My daughter had great time, she loves being among people.

As for reading, I read 2 books. I could have finished 3rd, I’m currently reading, if we didn’t have function.

Last Week I Read

Paris is Always a Good Idea by Jenn McKinlay

This was entertaining romance. There was much more than romance. First half was all about character introduction and Chelsea’s trip, banter between her and her co-worker, Jason. Second half was all about romance and much more. I didn’t expect to be emotional and dramatic. I liked Jason but Chelsea was a bit immature or she acted so. My review will be up tomorrow.

John Eyre: A Tale of Darkness and Shadow by Mimi Matthews

This was interesting, atmospheric, suspenseful gothic reimagining of classic novels, Jane Eyre and Dracula. It was slow paced but well written paranormal historical fiction. Setting, characters and Victorian era was best part of the book. Read full review HERE

The Promise of Summer by Bella Osborne

‘A page- turning summer sensation!’ Nicola May

The Promise of Summer was originally published as a four-part serial. This is the complete story in one package.

Ruby’s life is about to change for ever…

After years of dating losers, cheats and one guy who did something unrepeatable to her kettle, Ruby has all but given up on romance. But then a stranger sits next to her on a train to London and explains his plan to propose to the woman of his dreams. Maybe true love does exist after all?

When the man accidentally leaves the engagement ring behind, Ruby is determined to save the day. But she hasn’t counted on fellow passenger Curtis stepping in and insisting he should be the one to track the stranger down.

As summer closes in, the unlikely pair make a promise to reunite the ring with its owner. But can they find their own happy ever after along the way?

I’m halfway through this and so far it’s fun, lovely, cozy with perfect summer vibe. I like Ruby but it’s not just her story. It’s also her employer, Kim’s story who is florist. So far Ruby’s chance meeting with Curtis and their quest to find the owner of the ring they found on train is entertaining but there isn’t any feeling between them yet. They aren’t looking for love and their acquaintance turned into business and friendship. I can’t wait to see how that is going to turn into romance. I love it that author taking time with their relationship. Nothing is rushed so far and it feels a little less realistic (I mean how much are the chances getting a job from a stranger in just a day!) but smooth and natural.

Next this Week

The Night of Many Endings by Melissa Payne

From Melissa Payne, bestselling author of Memories in the Drift, comes an emotionally rich, feel-good novel about hope, second chances, and seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.

Orphaned at a young age and witness to her brother’s decline into addiction, Nora Martinez has every excuse to question the fairness of life. Instead, the openhearted librarian in the small Colorado community of Silver Ridge sees only promise. She holds on to the hope that she’ll be reunited with her missing brother and does what she can at the town library. It’s her home away from home, but it’s also a sanctuary for others who, like her brother, could use a second chance.

There’s Marlene, an elderly loner who believes that, apart from her husband, there’s little good left in the world; Jasmine, a troubled teen; Lewis, a homeless man with lost hope and one last wish; and Vlado, the security guard who loves a good book and, from afar, Nora.

As a winter storm buries Silver Ridge, this collection of lonely hearts takes shelter in the library. They’ll discover more about each other, and themselves, than they ever knew—and Nora will be forced to question her brother’s disappearance in ways she never could have imagined. No matter how stranded in life they feel, this fateful night could be the new beginning they didn’t think was possible.

I have read both previous books by the author and I have come to enjoy author’s writing and the way she writes characters with lot of depth and emotional plot that attached me to story even more. I expect nothing less with this one. The setting of library made me want to read even more. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.
