WEEKLY WRAP-UP (19/10/’20) #WEEKINREADING #WEEKLYWRAPUP
Hello Readers! I hope you had great week. Last week had been great in terms of reading. As for in life, now that I’m not house hunting anymore I have a bit more time so I have started continuing workout. With my mom’s food and not having to cook it myself in the morning, helping in cooking only evening meal, eating more than I used to, made it clear I need to be extra active. I went for eye check up and to buy new pair of specs. My daughter did something with old one and now alignment is not same and they are too loose to wear. we repaired it thrice but its the same after 2-3 months. My numbers were increasing ever since I started reading and blog but thankfully it’s steady now.
What I read last week-
The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker
This was fun, entertaining and very Christmassy romcom. I loved the setting, characters and friendship. 3 in 1 story was like holiday packed. The only minor thing was the three girls finding love instantly and falling in love in just few days was bit unbelievable. Apart from that I enjoyed reading this. Read full Review
Finding Henry Applebee by Celia Reynolds
I so love reading books with octogenarian main characters these days. This was heart felt and bittersweet journey of Henry, Ariel and Travis that connected them for life. Intergenerational relationship was amazing, setting was atmospheric and I loved theme kindness, forgiveness and pursuing dream and how it’s never late to right the wrong. My review will be up tomorrow.
Currently Reading-
Unravel the Dusk (The Blood of Stars #2) by Elizabeth Lim
The thrilling sequel to SPIN THE DAWN, a magical series steeped in Chinese culture.
Maia Tamarin’s journey to sew the dresses of the sun, the moon and the stars has taken a grievous toll. She returns to a kingdom on the brink of war. The boy she loves is gone, and she is forced to don the dress of the sun and assume the place of the emperor’s bride-to-be to keep the peace.
But the war raging around Maia is nothing compared to the battle within. Ever since she was touched by the demon Bandur, she has been changing . . . glancing in the mirror to see her own eyes glowing red, losing control of her magic, her body, her mind. It’s only a matter of time before Maia loses herself completely, but she will stop at nothing to find Edan, protect her family, and bring lasting peace to her country.
YA fantasy readers will love the sizzling forbidden romance, mystery, and intrigue of UNRAVEL THE DUSK.
I’m 30% through this book. If there is no interruption, I can finish the book today. It’s gripping, fast paced and I love it so far. The change in Maia is great and both inner battle and battle to keep the peace in country is amazing. I so hate that emperor. I wish he pays for cruelty and somehow his false face is unmasked by the end.
Next I’ll be reading-
The 12 Christmases of You & Me by Jennifer Joyce
What if you could go back in time and fix the biggest mistake of your life?
Two years ago, Maisie’s best friend walked out of her life and she hasn’t heard from him since. When she wakes up in 1994, she naturally assumes she’s dreaming. But when she finds herself in the past again the next night and her actions in the dream alter her present-day life, she begins to wonder if she’s somehow hopping back in time. And if she is time-travelling, can she save her friendship with Jonas?
When Maisie is forced to relive Christmases of the past, will she face up to her mistakes, or make them all over again?
The 12 Christmases of You & Me is a magical tale of friendship, first loves, and learning to live in the present.
Time traveling 12 Christmases? I was definitely in for it. I’m not fan of time travel but I love Christmas theme in books and hell I would love to see what mistakes Maisie was trying to correct by going in past and how.
Escape Room by Maren Stoffels
There’s no escape from this room. Full of menace and suspense, it’s an unputdownable thriller–and a paperback original!
Alissa, Sky, Cleo, and Miles just wanted something to do on a Friday night, so they signed up for an Escape Room. They have one hour to find clues, crack codes, and figure out puzzles. The Game Master told them they can always leave the game. But what if that’s not true? What if the Game Master has no intention of letting them out?
This looks short and I didn’t read any thriller or horror this month. It looks perfect weekend read.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know in comments what you are currently reading and planning to read next, or if you have read any of these books.
Happy Reading!

I must have missed a post – you found a house? Escape Room sounds awesome – think I requested it on NetGalley, but never got an answer.

Yes, we have booked a flat. It’s under construction and we will get possession after 2 and half years but by that time we are going to rent our relative’s house who are currently living in US. As they are relatives, they said the rent will be nominal. Now we just need to shift our furniture and all from old rent house in Hyderabad to new one in Gujarat. We will do the shifting in first week of December.
