Monthly Wrap-up: September 2018

Hey Book Lovers! I hope you all had very exciting month.

I don’t know why but I felt this month was longer. I have been busy with Baby shower and scans and check ups and other random life things that slowed reading. Moreover, amniotic fluid is on borderline and blood flow to baby is little less. Condition is not improving and so was advised to take all precautionary measure  and rest to not make it worse. Thankfully baby is growing well but I’m little worried.

Life is the Flower, Love is the Honey by Surabhi Sharma

3 Stars
contemporary fiction with mix of drama, love, passion and philosophical insight.
straightforward, realistic, inspirational story. It was okay for me.

Chick Lit /Women’s Fiction:

The Holiday Cruise by Victoria Cooke

5 Stars
lovely Chick Lit, holiday romance
light-hearted, entertaining, sweet Women fiction
readers of this genre will definitely enjoy it.

Mystery:

The Pawn by Punit Patel

3.5 Stars
interesting, suspenseful, character driven crime thriller.
A nice debut novel which could be better with bit of polishing.

The Ancient Nine by Ian K. Smith

4.5 Stars
convoluted mystery of one the club house of Harvard.
original, interesting, slow building and steady paced with exquisite writing.
I highly recommend to Those who like historical suspense with academic details would definitely enjoy the book.

Barnabas Tew and the Case of the Nine Worlds by Columbkill Noonan

5 Stars
second in series
Mix of Humor, cozy sleuthing mystery, Norse mythology and entertainment
Humor dripping, entertaining, and delightful cozy mystery that I recommend to all readers.

Classic:

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

4.5 Stars
first autobiography I read
touching, mesmerizing, insightful account of WWII by a young girl.
I highly recommend to all readers.

Animal Farm by George Orwell

5 Stars
Classic allegorical political novel that should be in your read list before you die.
Shockingly amazing read. Relevant, thought provoking, just brilliant.
Highly recommend it.

Children’s Fiction / Middle Grade:

Mangoes, Mischief, and Tales of Friendship: Stories from India by Chitra Soundar

5 Stars
stories were based on Indian folk tales set in imaginary kingdom of India.
it was fun to read with pots of wisdom and wits blended in Indian flavors that all kids would love to taste.
I highly recommend this book to all young readers.
