The Unpopular Opinions Tag
Hello everyone! I was thinking to start doing book tags once my reading and posting reviews balance a little bit. And I don’t have review to post today. So, here is the my first book tag- The Unpopular Opinions Tag. I hope it won’t make me unpopular. 😛
I was tagged by Naty for this. Check out her cool blog.- Naty’s Bookshelf. You can read her answers on this tag HERE.
1. A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE
Ohh! People don’t hate me please. The Chronicles of Narnia. It’s been a long time I read I liked only one book of the series, Lion Witch and Wardrobe even movie was good, but I didn’t like rest of the books in this series. I don’t know what’s the reason, it’s simply I couldn’t digest this series. The Time Traveler’s wife that was another one I didn’t enjoy that much.
2. A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO HATE BUT YOU LOVE
Pass. Everyone seems to have different options. So, I don’t know which book everyone hate. Give me a list, I will read and tell if I like it or not.
3. AN OTP (ONE TRUE PAIRING) THAT YOU DON’T LIKE
Hazel and Gus in ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. I liked the concept and story of this book but I didn’t feel anything “romantic” between this two. Even though Hazel and Gus were best friends in this book, I would have liked it.
4. A POPULAR BOOK GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY REACH FOR
I don’t know whether you call it popular or not but I give least preference to EROTICA. It’s just because I haven’t read any and I don’t know whether I like this genre or not until I read one. So, I’m going to try this genre.
5. A POPULAR/BELOVED CHARACTER THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE
Jacob in Twilight series. His actions were so in whole series. You can’t just force your love on someone, please! And then you start loving her daughter!!! Any sense behind this? I know it was not in his hand being wolf and all but nope, I don’t like him.
6. A POPULAR AUTHOR THAT YOU CAN’T SEEM TO GET INTO
Umm, I don’t know honestly. First of all, I pick a book by its story. If blurb interest me I take a book then I check who is author and publisher, it doesn’t matter they are popular or not. Second, It’s not like I’m reading since 10 years and have read all books by all popular authors. I just started reading like 2 and half years ago. So, I haven’t come across any author whose writing didn’t interest me till date.
7. A POPULAR BOOK TROPE (OVERUSED PLOT DEVICE) THAT YOU’RE TIRED OF SEEING
I’m not tired, I liked these books, but plot does look same. –Divergent, Hunger games, Maze runner.
8. A POPULAR SERIES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING
Game of thrones.. I know many people love this show and series. As it was so much popular, I went to store took out first book of the series and read little bit to see if it interest me. As soon as it came to a scene where character’s brother was touching her parts. Grrrooosssss!!! I don’t want to read those kind of thing. Thank you! I don’t care whatever you think about me, but sorry I can’t read this.
9. THE SAYING GOES “THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE”, BUT WHAT MOVIE OR TV SHOW ADAPTATION DO YOU PREFER MORE THAN THE BOOK?
I have a guess because I read the book and by writing itself I could say the movie might be better than book and also have heard the same, but I haven’t watched that movie myself. If you’re wondering which one I’m talking about- it’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
I’m keeping this tag open for everyone who come across this post.
Happy Reading! 🙂

The Time Travellers Wife was one I couldn’t get into at all either!

Great answers! Between you and me you made the right choice with game of Thrones but that’s a very unpopular opinion from a fantasy fan! I love the show but the books..well, I’ve only managed one so far! 😲
This tag looks fun I may pick it up at some point.

Thank you! Great, I would like to read your answers. ☺

Regarding #9, two books/movies jump to mind:
Forrest Gump — The movie was WAY better than the book. In the book, Gump is not a very likeable character. The movie screenwriter(s)/director are to be commended for saving that one!
To Have and Have Not — To put it mildly (in MY opinion), Hemingway’s book sucked. His “Cuban” accents sounded more like “Italian.” The book was also rather dull and drawn out, although a relatively short novel. Once again, the movie crew deserves kudos. The screenplay hardly resembles the book (thank goodness!), and then there’s the onscreen chemistry between Bogie and Bacall — always an attention-grabber!

Yes, I thought the same about Jacob! Bella clearly didnt want him and he kept being so annoying. I haven’t read Hunger Games yet, only saw the movies, but I thought it quite similar to Maze Runner, as you said. Great post, this was fun to read! 🙂

Oh, that’s great. I thought I’m only one who doesn’t like Jacob. There was little humor in the maze runner while Hunger Game, it’s serious and depressing. I just wanted to shoot antagonist throughout the series. Few parts in the series were really good specially that hunger game song and story behind it. Thanks for tagging me, I enjoyed this tag. 🙂
