Iris

We set rules to prevent any kind of issues.
Ones that were never meant to be broken, no matter how much Declan tempts me.
But what happens when our fake relationship bleeds into our real one?
Falling in love was never an option.
At least not for me.
Review
Terms and Conditions was entertaining and swoonworthy billionaire romance, and honestly even better than The Fine Print. This second book follows the story of the eldest Kane brother, Declan, and his assistant Iris, and their journey from a strictly contractual arrangement to something far more complicated and emotional.
Iris has been searching for a suitable wife for Declan ever since the brothers discovered the inheritance clause left by their grandfather. In order to claim his inheritance and secure the CEO position, Declan must get married within six months and have a child within three years. As his assistant, Iris takes this task seriously and interviews potential candidates for the role as if she were recruiting for a corporate position. Yet when the final candidate runs away in tears on the day of the engagement, the carefully planned arrangement collapses. That is when Iris unexpectedly steps in and offers to marry Declan herself.
At the time, she believes it is a harmless solution. Iris has no interest in love or relationships, especially after everything she witnessed growing up. The contract is clear and practical. They will remain professional, there will be no emotional expectations, and even the future child will be conceived through IVF rather than intimacy.
To Iris, it feels like a simple favor for the boss she respects and considers a friend. However, once the marriage becomes real and they begin living together, not only in the office but also under the same roof, the neat boundaries she created begin to fall apart. Proximity has a way of stirring emotions she never planned to feel.
Declan is ruthless, cold, and painfully controlled. For most of his life he has been told that he is unlovable, and he has built his personality around that belief. He keeps people at a distance and refuses to show vulnerability. Iris, however, slowly disrupts that carefully constructed armor. She makes him care in ways he never has before. She challenges the stoic and emotionless persona he hides behind.
At first he resists the change because it means giving someone power over him, something he has always avoided. Yet once he recognizes his feelings, he realizes he no longer wants their relationship to remain a contract. He wants Iris to stay, not as an obligation but as his wife in every real sense of the word.
Watching him try to earn Iris’s trust and convince her to take a chance on love was one of the most compelling parts of the story.
The writing is just as addictive and immersive as in the first book. The pacing is quick and the plot remains engaging, but what truly elevates Terms and Conditions is the dynamic between the characters and the deeply swoonworthy romance that develops between them.
I absolutely adored Iris and Declan together. They are complete opposites in nearly every possible way. Declan is grumpy while Iris radiates warmth and sunshine. He is selfish and guarded while she is compassionate and endlessly giving. He dislikes small talk and crowds while she thrives on interacting with people. He rarely laughs and keeps his emotions tightly locked away while she wears her heart openly. Despite all these differences, they fit together perfectly, almost like two pieces that only make sense when placed side by side.
The one painful similarity they share is their childhood. Both grew up with terrible fathers whose actions destroyed their belief in healthy relationships. That shared history quietly influences many of their choices and creates tension within their fake marriage until they are finally forced to confront those buried fears.
Declan makes plenty of mistakes throughout the story. In the beginning he is difficult to like because of how blunt, calculating, and emotionally distant he can be. Yet it is also clear that he respects Iris and values her more than he admits. Over time he started growing on me much faster than I expected
He understands her better than anyone else even when he refuses to say it aloud. Once he decides he truly wants her, he becomes fiercely determined to prove that he can be the partner she deserves. He does not easily bend his rules, but for Iris he is willing to try, and that effort says a lot about his growth.
Of course he does mess things up spectacularly near the climax. In his desperate attempt to avoid becoming like his father, he ends up repeating the very behavior he fears. The damage he causes affects not only Iris but also his relationship with his brothers. What I loved, though, was how the faces those mistakes head on. Watching him work to repair those relationships and make heartfelt gestures to win Iris back was incredibly satisfying and genuinely touching.
Iris shines just as brightly throughout the book. Her skepticism about love stems from witnessing her father repeatedly betray her mother’s trust. That childhood trauma shapes how she views relationships and explains why she prefers the safety of a contract over the vulnerability of real feelings. Yet once she acknowledges her love for Declan and recognizes that his feelings are genuine, she begins to challenge those old fears. Seeing her hurt after Declan’s words during the climax was painful, but her decision to leave made perfect sense.
I appreciated that she did not rush back to him immediately. She takes time to reflect, speaks honestly with her mother about the situation, and focuses on rebuilding her own sense of self before deciding what she truly wants. That growth makes her eventual choices feel earned rather than impulsive.
The chemistry between Iris and Declan is intense, electric, and impossible to ignore. Their relationship evolves from awkward contractual partners to something passionate and emotionally charged. Watching them fall for each other while battling their insecurities and past wounds made the romance feel both dramatic and heartfelt.
The climax itself is predictable in terms of structure, yet it still delivers a satisfying emotional punch. The confrontation with their fears forces both characters to grow, and by the end their bond feels stronger and more genuine because of it. The ending is warm, hopeful, and deeply satisfying.
Overall, Terms and Conditions is a heartfelt and utterly romantic billionaire romance. It delivers everything one expects from a marriage of convenience and opposites attract romance while also exploring vulnerability, healing, and emotional growth. It is swoonworthy, engaging, and easily one of the most memorable romances in the series.
