A Week of Joy Drama and Anticipation: My Weekly Recap (10th Nov 2024)

Hello, readers! I hope you all had a wonderful week. I’m back with weekly wrap-up! With a bit of extra time on my hands and notes saved along the way, it didn’t take long to put this post together—and looking back, it truly was A Week of Joy Drama and Anticipation. Dive into look back at the past week in life, reading, TBR updates, and plans for the week ahead in this Weekly Recap Post.

A Week of Joy Drama and Anticipation: My Weekly Recap (10th Nov 2024)

Highlights of the Week

The week began with my child’s birthday. She had a wonderful time, and we enjoyed spending the day doing all her favorite activities: cutting cake, playing in the garden, and dining out as a family. We didn’t buy her any gifts on her birthday itself, but yesterday we got her a Frozen-themed travel bag she’d been wanting for our upcoming trip to Dubai in December. She’s already excitedly packing her clothes in it.

The rest of the week was spent meeting potential shadow teachers, as school starts tomorrow. Just yesterday, we received a call from the school director requesting a meeting. It feels a bit unexpected, and I have mixed feelings about it, but we’ll see how it goes. The school also wants to meet the shadow teacher we select, so tomorrow will be busy with discussions. Hopefully, this will smooth things out so she can start attending school regularly from Tuesday onward.

I also heard about some family drama (thankfully not involving me or my family, which is how I prefer it) that offered a unique and enlightening perspective. It’s disheartening to see how people can change as they start to earn more. They expect full support when they need it, but when it’s done, they act like strangers.

Books Read This week

Surviving the Storm is an erotic thriller set in 1989, following three couples working at a beachfront resort and their entanglements with a coworker found dead after Hurricane Hugo—a death that doesn’t look accidental. While the murder investigation felt secondary, the dynamics within each couple kept the story engaging. Each character had motives, and while none were particularly likable, the reveal of the culprit was surprising. Overall, it was an okay read.

Living With Adi is a middle-grade novel about a neurodivergent child navigating the challenges of school and how his experiences impact those around him. I loved this book; it felt incredibly realistic, and as a mother of a child with ADHD, certain scenarios were deeply relatable and truly touched my heart.

The Light Within You is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about Diwali. It follows a young girl living in the U.S. as she navigates a new city and school where her friends don’t know about Diwali or why she’s taking a three-week trip to celebrate it in India with her Nani. The vibrant illustrations and colors make it relatable for kids who live away from family. While the story reflects cultural nuances, it’s ultimately about discovering inner strength and happiness, using Diwali as a backdrop.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea

Reading Progress- 30% . I’m reading this with Toni @readingtonic and so far, I’m enjoying it even more than Cerulean Sea. The beginning is heart melting and diabetic sweet but it quickly becomes more emotional and tense with another DICOMY head determined to make life difficult for magical beings—especially of Arthur’s. She definitely have something against him. I can’t wait to see where the story goes and how they’ll handle this new challenge and inspection at the orphanage. Hoping to reach 60% by the end of the day!
