Can you tell readers a little about your book, Hive?
Hive is a New Adult Soft Sci-Fi Dysopian Adventure
How did you come up with the idea for your book?
It all started with an image in my head. It had the four main charecters using an Emp to take down the villian, revealing that one of the main charecters was actually an android. Its interesting because the twist didn’t actually happen.
What were the key challenges you faced when writing Hive?
The disipline of writing everyday
What is your favourite quality in protagonist? Has anyone in real life inspired you to write any characters in your book?
I like it when a protagonist is flawed. That’s always a very important aspect for me. I have never really been inspired by anybody in real life to write any of my characters.
When writing, do you plot or go with the flow?
Its a mixture of both plotting and going with the flow. I always have the charecter arcs and major plot points planned out, usually in a four page document. The details are filled in as I actually start to write, usually through this new plot points start to pop up.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Two years
Tell us about your journey to publication.
I decided to self-publish, mostly because I think that the rates that authors are given in terms of royalties is way too low based on the amount of work they do.
What are your most favorite and least favorite things about being an author?
My favorite thing is crafting a novel that I crafted from the ground up. The least favorite is the times when I really don’t feel like writing, but still have to in order to reach my goals.
Do you have any writing rituals?
Sometimes I’ll have a cup of coffee, but most of the time I’ll have tea, then I’ll set a timer for an hour and write until it goes off.
What is your favorite childhood book?
The Homework Machine by Gordon Korman. It was the book that got me into reading as everything I had read before it was mandated novels from school.
What is the next project you’re working on?
The next book I’m working of book 2 of The Arcane Volumes Finite. A High Fantasy story in a realm of gods.
Can you describe Hive in five words?
Epic, Exciting, Ambitious, Dangerous, Interconnected
And the last one, top 3 tips for aspiring authors.
Have Disipline. Set reachable goals. Don’t stop.
