Happy Monday Book Lovers! I hope you all had a cheerful week.

Yesterday it was a last day of sale at Crossword, thought to visit it but it was not worthwhile. Sale was like if you buy min Rs 1000 – 1500 purchase you get discount and so and so. 😒 Amazon was offering better so I returned without any purchase.

I watched movie Blade Runner 2049. It was bit slow but good, kind of movie that would have like more as a book.

My cat is giving me training for baby, waking me up at unearthly hour. Sometime for food sometimes because he want to go out for litter! He refuses to use litter box and prefer nature. The bully cats in surrounding has scared him lot that he won’t roam out without company and that company has to be me or my mom. My mom loves her beauty sleep, she gets irritated if he disturbs her while I don’t mind at all, I’m light sleeper so by default duty of taking care of him falls on me.

My reading week was good.

The Pawn by Punit Patel

Like every other town, Scandicci too has its story. In fact, there are multiple stories woven around the web of lies, deceit, hate and, above all, vengeance. All these stories revolve around one particular person, Dimas Romero, a drug dealer who considers himself a tyrant. Among these stories, one involves an orphan boy named Logan who leads an ordinary life. A change of events take place after the mysterious disappearance of Dimas, and Logan has to get himself involved, because of his love Abigail, who happens to be Dimas’ wife.

A murder is suspected and the suspects are numerous. It becomes really hard for the police to determine the culprit from among a gardener, an angry father, a madman, a lover, a wife, a revengeful neighbor and a person who has lost his love. Upon interrogation, they all have only one thing to say, “I would have killed him if given the opportunity.”

As the story unfolds, it reveals many long lost secrets which provide an even stronger motive for each of the suspects. Amidst this chaos, it becomes a challenge for Logan and Abigail to prove their innocence and fight for their survival.

That cover is so similar to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None! I know this author personally. He is my distant and only relative who loves to read. I’m so glad he sent me his debut novel to read and review. He has warned me to not keep high expectations  but still I’m hoping it turns out good.
