Finding Clarity Amid Chaos : Weekly Recap (Nov 25, 2024)
I hope you’re all doing well and had a wonderful weekend. Last week was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me. Writing in my diary and talking to a friend really helped elevate my mood and helped me Finding Clarity Amid Chaos. Check out my week in life and reading in this Weekly Recap post –
Finding Clarity Amid Chaos : Weekly Recap
Week in Life
One best thing happened is my suspicion is confirmed about my kid’s school. It’s become clear they’re targeting my kid and are exaggerating things that is happening in the class.
For instance, one day she wasn’t in the mood to write but still managed to complete two out of three tasks and participated in other activities. Yet, the teacher wrote in the comments, “She participated in activities but didn’t do any classwork.” On another day, when she wasn’t feeling up to doing anything, we had anticipated it and instructed her shadow teacher to let her be. This approach avoided a tantrum and minimized classroom disruption. But instead of acknowledging this, the teacher claimed, “The shadow teacher isn’t taking charge and is letting her sit idly in class.”
Having a shadow teacher has been a blessing, as it confirms what we suspected about the dynamics in the classroom. Forcing her to comply is the root cause of many issues, and allowing her some autonomy has made a noticeable difference. It’s frustrating, though, to see the school and teachers not understanding her needs as a six-year-old with ADHD. They seem more focused on molding her into conformity than supporting her individuality.
What’s worse, we can’t openly challenge them without risking her well-being for the rest of the term. At least the emotional trauma caused by scolding and threats has stopped, thanks to the shadow teacher’s efforts.
Last week I read

Never Forgotten was really good historical romantic suspense. I was often frustrated with characters when it came to romance but I enjoyed their development. What I loved most was suspense and mystery that kept me hooked till the end. Check out my review –> HERE .
If You Give a Billionaire a Bride was fast paced and fun installment in Aspen Grove series that follows the love story of most laid back Stafford sibling. Previous book didn’t give much of Cash so it was interesting to know him and how marrying with his childhood crust Everly changed him into a better person. I’m writing review as soon as the post is up.

I was supposed to read this last month and it totally slipped my mind so I put this on priority. While the weekend was busy with trip planning and shopping, I managed to read a few chapters at night. The story is intriguing so far! It follows Liv, a high school coder participating in a government-sponsored contest that could secure her dream internship. She programs Breck, an AI with the ability to sleep and dream, to help him navigate the challenges. However, he has an expiration date. While I think I can see where this is going, I’m currently more fascinated by Liv’s life than the programming aspect.
Next I will read

Next, I’ll finally pick up Tales from the Cafe. It’s cozy and light, exactly what I need to balance the emotional and hectic challenges of life right now.

Will the situation of how they treat your daughter continue once the shadow teacher leaves? Just wondering if homeschooling is an option for you?
Books Teacup and Reviews
We have thought about it and Home schooling might shield her for now. It will make it easy for her and us but it doesn’t negate issue with the social behavior and competing environment that only school can give. All we want from school is little co-operation and giving her time to settle with shadow teacher and to her that they are not giving. Either we can fight, or ignore them for now until April when she goes in 1st grade where hopefully things will be different with different management and teachers, or we change the school. Home schooling is on our list but as of now we have put it last on the list.

Glad to hear the shadow teacher is helping! Looks like you’ve got some books ahead of you to put you in the holiday mood. Happy Reading, Yesha!

Thank you, Teri! Yes, and we hope by the end of this term we might not need shadow teacher.

Yesha – that’s wonderful news that the shadow teacher is helping already. Still challenges ahead with the teachers’ attitudes, but it sounds like an improvement.

Yes, so far, we are ignoring teacher’s comments. It’s just waste to argue with person who doesn’t want to understand and also not something in my kid’s favor. We will see how things will progress after a month.

Oh I am so glad having the shadow teacher is helping! It is so aggravating when schools are focused on “cookie cutter” kids instead of seeing the individual students – but hopefully this will be the start of some improvement and a better experience ❤️

Thank you, Rebecca! I hope so. So far, it’s been annoying but I hope a month or two will bring change both in my kid and school’s perspective.
Susy's Cozy World
I’m really sorry for the situation at school, even if I am glad that having a shadow teacher is helping, at least a bit!!
And your additions to your TBR are all so festive!!
