My birthday month was nothing special! #OctoberWrapUp

Hello readers! I’m back after a week long break which I didn’t expect but anticipated because of many reasons. First it was a festival week that required lots of social gatherings, schools are close (we get Diwali vacation in schools), my in-laws were here, and unexpectedly I caught seasonal and allergic cold. I was in no state of writing posts or keep up with blog hopping or social media, and I read only 2 books in this last 2 weeks. In short, my birthday month was nothing special! But not all days were bad, I had some good moments.

My birthday month was nothing special!

October Highlights-

– I got some review copies from authors and publishers. (I’m going to read all of them in November)

– We had lots of fun on Diwali. Until last year my kid was afraid of firecrackers but this year she wasn’t afraid and showed interest. I’m sure next year I have to keep a close watch when she lit firecrackers herself.

– We bought early birthday gift for my kid and she loved it.

– I enjoyed most of the books i read this month.

– A week of break actually gave a much needed rest.

– I completed Goodreads reading challenge of 70 books. I think I can read 15 more books before year end.

– I completed HP embroidery. Here is how it looks-

Books I read in September

(click on title for review)

The Belle of Belgrave Square (Belles of London, #2) by Mimi Matthews is refreshing, swoon-worthy and heartmelting historical fiction, second book in Belles of London series that focuses on Julia and Captain Blunt’s love story. This is most romantic book I have read so far. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Meat by Dane Cobain is excellent, mindblowing, thoughtprovoking and intense horror thriller with theme of factory farming that gives closer look to reality of the industry. I enjoyed the book more than I expected. I just had trouble digesting the end. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pet That Cat!: A Handbook for Making Feline Friends by Nigel Kidd is interesting and lovely children’s nonfiction about cats giving all the details on history, fatcs and tips about cats and help kids with how to care for their cats. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young is interesting, dark, atmospheric, and mysterious thriller with touch of magical realism but it didn’t turn out as good as I expected. It sure needed spell for speed and magic. ⭐⭐⭐.5

Chuckle Merry Spin : Us IN THE U S by Khyrunnisa A. is hilarious, entertaining, and witty travelogue with amazing perspectives and tips for novices, that made me pack my bags and visit the U.S. through my cozy armchair.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Donut Fall in Love by Jackie Lau is heartwarming, swoonworthy, entertaining, and delectable romcom with celebrity falling for normal person trope. I highly recommend to fans of this genre. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Stand-Up Groomsman by Jackie Lau is entertaining, heartwarming and lovely romcom with excellent bi and asian representation but it’s not as amazing as Donut Fall in Love. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Station Eternity (The Midsolar Murders, #1) by Mur Lafferty is interesting and very unique sci-fi cozy mystery that taes place in near future on space with heroine who attracts murders. This is steady paced, mostly light murder mystery that is well written and unpredictable but I can see it’s not for everyone and some reader might DNF it but if you be patient, it’s definitely good. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
