Best Books of 2022 so far… (from Jan to June)

Hello readers! I hope you all are enjoying 2022 so far and having an amazing year in reading. I usually don’t post my ‘Best of…’ post in the middle of the year but I didn’t want to post the Mid-Year Freak Out tag which doesn’t exactly have anything to freak out. So I thought to list Best Books of 2022 so far just so I don’t forget by the end of the year which books I loved as I keep forgetting to mention best books in my monthly wrap-ups. Also, the post is part of Blogchatter Blog Hop created by Blogchatter which is fun way to encourage all bloggers to keep writing posts.

1. Bound by Firelight by Dana Swift

I couldn’t have picked a better book to start my year with. First book of the year, totally my kind of books with strong female character, political intrigue, lots of twist and turns and of course adventure. I loved first book in this duology and this one was even better with a perfect conclusion.

2. A Perfect Equation (The Secret Scientists of London #2) by Elizabeth Everett

A perfect book like its title. I haven’t read first book in this series and I’m sure this can be read standalone but I so wish I have read first book. Who doesn’t love band of scientist women standing up for their mind and voice against haughty egoistic men of 1843 Regency London, at the beginning of suffrage? Add swoonworthy romance to it and I was a goner.

3. The Keeper of Stories by Sally Page

Touching, heartwarming, character driven women’s fiction with lots of stories within story. You can say this is kind of collection of short stories but it is told by a person observing it and giving it a shape and making the short collection into a novel. And most surprising and amazing is author’s note saying all these stories, both historical and real in book, are based on true stories. I usually don’t prefer slow to steady paced books and rarely include them in my best book lists but this is a hidden gem.

4. Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff

Who said hyped/popular books are not worth the hype/popularity? This proves it wrong. I loved whole Illuminae series. I have read sci-fi before but these books made me fall for this genre. And if I have to choose the best in the series it will Gemina. Lots of reasons for that and you can read them in my review but best of all is breakneck speed like going through a wormhole itself, Hannah, and ship between Nik and Hannah.

5. The Mad Girls of New York (A Nellie Bly Novel, #1) by Maya Rodale

When it comes to Historical Fiction that is not exactly Historical Romance, I’m very selective so most books I read in this genre turns out really great but best of them are the one that is based of on real historical figures, real life stories of real people and this was one of it. I can’t believe I never heard of Nellie Bly before reading this. She is awe-inspiring and so motivating, it was admirable to see her doing all courageous things and being a feminist in the Gilded Age of New York. Best thing was, author kept most of the story, even the side characters, same as historical facts by changing only few minor things.

6. Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman

Maybe not everyone will agree with this choice but you know what I loved this one. I loved eccentric characters and their coming-of-age stories told in simple and entertaining way that warmed my heart. Nina Hill’s bookishness and nerdiness and her obsession with Trivia Quiz is just cherry on the top of this sweet resonating story.

7. Out of the Clear Blue Sky by Kristan Higgins

I can see why author is so popular among contemporary readers. This is heartwarming and touching with does of entertainment and also some serious topics. Most of us don’t like betrayal and we hate the woman even more who breaks the family by stealing another woman’s husband but this one changed the perspective as it includes the perspective of a woman who broke the family and that makes the book stand out most from all other books with a cheating husband storyline.

8. It Happened One Summer (Bellinger Sisters, #1) by Tessa Bailey

Entertaining, very hot and sexy romance that is so well balanced with every aspect of the story and best of all everything was in abundance- Romance, sexy scenes, emotions, hilarious moments, lovely and romantic moments, and surprises. Also, characters’ growth. I always love themes of self-discovery, connecting with roots, and belongingness… and this book conveyed those themes fabulously, everything else was ++.

Thank you for reading! Let’s chat..,
