Unsatisfying disappointing week #WeeklyWrapUp

Hello readers! I hope you are all well and had a lovely week. My week didn’t go as I planned. It was an unsatisfying and disappointing week. I couldn’t do in the beginning of the week. Once my mother-in-law arrived and the wedding functions started on Friday things went out of control as nothing happened as I have discussed with my husband until this morning.

Friday was good but attending a function on that day made it clear I have to attend a marriage on Saturday that I didn’t want to as it was in a different city, needed to travel 2 hrs for that, it was freaking 46°C hot, and no way I was taking my kid to marriage in this heat so I have to leave her with my parents (which was wise and best decision). I thought fine marriage will be over by 1 in noon and we will leave at 2 and will be back before evening. Let’s just say my week would be much better if I didn’t try to be nice and refused to attend the marriage. The wedding was late 6 HRS LATE!!! My mother-in-law refused to leave until marriage is over to please her mother-in-law!! That means we had to stay until 6 in the evening. It was so ridiculous to ask everyone dance in middle of noon on the road in that heat. I wanted to SCREAM at everyone for this much delay and for not letting us leave. To make things worst I sacrificed my Sunday as well.

I couldn’t read, couldn’t blog, couldn’t post on social media and there was NO ME TIME. And I have a deadline for two books for which I don’t have much time as I’m leaving this weekend to visit my in-laws for one full week.

So, I won’t be around for another two weeks until my kid’s school starts.

One positive thing that happened is improvement in my kid and some positive feedback from her summer camp teachers who also gave few points to make the progress faster and better with hope by the time she tirns 4 there won’t be any speech or behavioral issues.

So here is what I read last week-

The Magic Mindset: How to Find Your Happy Place by Preeti Shenon

This is inspiring and motivating self-help book about changing mindset and attitude that help in coping with emotions and all kind of life situations and deal with life problems. I loved exercises in each chapter, tips and suggestions, summery at the end and real life stories and scenarios. It never felt like preaching and doesn’t exactly give the solution but acts as a guide that makes readers to find their own solutions.

Currently Reading

Best Intentions by Simran Dhir

‘Lawyer-turned-author Simran Dhir’s debut novel is the exciting airport read we often need in our lives.’ — The Telegraph’This sharp, acute and accomplished debut novel … carries deep insights into human relationships and the social schisms and fault lines that surround us.’ —

Namita GokhaleGayatri Mehra is tired of her parents trying to find her a suitable husband. She would much rather focus on the history journal she edits and leave the happily-ever-after to Nandini and Amar, her newly married sister and brother-in-law. But when the journal faces pressure to fall in line from the right-wing SSP, headed by a corrupt godman, Gayatri is forced to seek help from Akshay Grewal, Amar’s brother and elder son of lawyer-turned-politician Gyan Singh Grewal.Gayatri finds Akshay arrogant and unprincipled; he thinks she is naive and self-righteous.

Enter Vikram Gera, a self-made banker willing to go to any lengths to break into Delhi’s elite circles, even if it means stringing Gayatri along. As Gayatri and Akshay come together to salvage the situation at the journal, they realize that their siblings’ marriage is coming undone.Politics, ambition and hard truths collide, and familial bonds are tested. But as they navigate this complex world, Akshay and Gayatri learn that while some things can’t be fixed, love often finds a way.Best Intentions is a sharply observed and compulsively readable novel of manners marking the arrival of an accomplished new voice.

This is now a priority read and I planned to start reading this today so I can schedule review on Friday when I’m leaving. I read first chapter. writing is simple and it feel fast paced so hopefully this week I can follow my plans and there is no hinderance.

Next I’ll be reading

Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman

A young woman arrives in Los Angeles determined to start over, and discovers she doesn’t need to leave everything behind after all, from Abbi Waxman, USA Today bestselling author of The Bookish Life of Nina Hill.

When Laura Costello moves to Los Angeles, trying to escape an overprotective family and the haunting memories of a terrible accident, she doesn’t expect to be homeless after a week. (She’s pretty sure she didn’t start that fire — right?) She also doesn’t expect to find herself adopted by a rogue bookseller, installed in a lovely but completely illegal boardinghouse, or challenged to save a losing trivia team from ignominy…but that’s what happens. Add a regretful landlady, a gorgeous housemate and an ex-boyfriend determined to put himself back in the running and you’ll see why Laura isn’t really sure she’s cut out for this adulting thing. Luckily for her, her new friends Nina, Polly and Impossibly Handsome Bob aren’t sure either, but maybe if they put their heads (and hearts) together they’ll be able to make it work for them.

I would have started and finished this one but you know why I couldn’t so hopefully I can read this during my train journey on Friday and finish it this weekend.

Thank you for reading! Let’s chat..,
