I finally watched Bridgerton 2 #weeklywrapup
Hello readers! It’s been a long weekend. I hope you all had fun time. I don’t like long weekends. It gets tough to keep my kid occupied. But for a day I left responsibility of my kid to my mom and husband and I finally watched Bridgerton 2. That means I couldn’t finish the second book I started but it was worth it.
I enjoyed the second season. It was interesting to know Brigertons more. Regency era is fascinating like the first season. And Aubrey hall was beautiful. I sure want to get books now.
I also saw what all the critique was about when it came to things about India in the season. I’m okay they did make it a bit colonial, in the era it was like that, but I have to agree with some comments– the Ghalib (The poet was just a kid at that time, how he has written poetry?!), Hindi language called ‘Hindustani’ (people are called Hindustani not language) and instrument ‘maruli’ (it’s actually “Murali” – means flute). There is also funny comments on how bad the maker of the season was with regional aspect. Indian main characters of the season call their father ‘Appa’ (which is South Indian word for father) but their surname is Sharma (that is North Indian surname) and they speak Marathi (that is a Mumbai language, West India) and ‘Bon’ means sister in Bengali (that is East India). So where exactly they were from in India? I had good laugh at that. They sure needed to do research there. But otherwise story is interesting.
Business Not as Usual by Sharon C. Cooper
This was good but as I said in my review, you have to suspend belief. It was cute, fluffy, hot, and light-hearted romance.

The No-Show by Beth O’Leary
I’m at 40% of this and so far it’s going slow. I still wonder why Joseph is dating three women at the same time. He doesn’t look like those cheating bastards, smug or egoistic. It doesn’t look like he has some motif or something which is making me extra curious to know why he is doing that. Clearly, two of the women already know he is seeing other women and it’s hard to believe they are ignoring it and don’t want to confront him. I love writing, so I’m definitely reading other books by author even if this didn’t turn out better in the second half. I hope things speed up a little in the second half.

The Mad Girls of New York (Nellie Bly #1) by Maya Rodale
Fearless reporter Nellie Bly will stop at nothing to chase down stories that expose injustices against women—even if it comes at the risk of her own life and freedom—in this exciting novel inspired by the true story of one remarkable woman.
In 1887 New York City, Nellie Bly has ambitions beyond writing for the ladies pages, but all the editors on Newspaper Row think women are too emotional, respectable and delicate to do the job. But then the New York World challenges her to an assignment she’d be mad to accept and mad to refuse: go undercover as a patient at Blackwell’s Island Insane Asylum for Women.
For months, rumors have been swirling about deplorable conditions at Blackwell’s, but no reporter can get in—that is, until Nellie feigns insanity, gets committed and attempts to survive ten days in the madhouse. Inside, she discovers horrors beyond comprehension. It’s an investigation that could make her career—if she can get out to tell it before two rival reporters scoop her story.
From USA Today bestselling author Maya Rodale comes a rollicking historical adventure series about the outrageous intrigues and bold flirtations of the most famous female reporter—and a groundbreaking rebel—of New York City’s Gilded Age.
Now that definitely sounds insane! I already fear if she will get out and write a story or will be stuck there.
Thank you for reading! Let’s chat..,

Glad you got around to watching the second season of Bridgerton, Yesha! It sounds like it was still fun! 😀
Books Teacup and Reviews
Yes it is fun even with their lack of research.

Nice to see you enjoyed Bridgerton, critiques notwithstanding. I have been waiting to watch the series until I get around to reading the books… which for some reason I haven’t prioritized?

I also wish to read books even though I already watched first two seasons. It’s super fun and I love Bridgerton family.

It is interesting to see the inaccuracies of Bridgerton – I would have been annoyed so I’m glad to see you still managed to enjoy the series!

Thank you! I prefer to laugh at it than get annoyed and I can’t deny the story is interesting and enjoyable.

Quick eye and ear to spot the inaccuracies in Bridgerton, Hon. I enjoyed the series a great deal. It was a guilty pleasure for me. LOL

It wasn’t just me. I was seeing and hearing the critique that made me watch the season with double interest and observation to see if they are true or not. No need for guilt, it sure was fun season.

I just love Bridgerton, and I want to read the book now too! I’ll agree that The No-Show is a bit slow, but the ending is what makes the book IMO.

Just finished the book and i have say it’s rare when romance surprise me. It was brilliant twist in climax and I couldn’t see that coming. It changed everything I thought about characters too. Do you think this is romance or it’s more women’s fiction?

So glad you got a day to yourself to watch the Bridgertons. The India info is so interesting. Have a great week!
Books Teacup and Reviews
Thank you, Tessa! I could see most of those things but i too have to look for word ‘Bon’. I knew it meant sister but not which indian language as there are over 100 regional languages in India. So i can see why most people can’t pick up these things. but even I could look it up so sure they wouldn’t have much problem in doing research.

I haven’t watched Bridgerton, but it sure sounds like it could have used a little more research this season, Yesha. Have a great week!

Yes, they could do some research but otherwise it’s ver enjoyable with lots of drama.

I enjoyed Bridgertons and of course wouldn’t pick up on those things. I wonder if it was the author of the books or the television series that didn’t do the research. My guess is the author as I have seen comments about that in reviews of her books. I also have the Nellie Bly book to read. She is such a fascinating person and I do want to learn more about her real life, but am looking forward to enjoying this story. Have a great week, Yesha.

Even if author made mistake, shouldn’t tv series people notice that and make it right? Yes, you can’t notice that if you’re not from India or not aware of regional aspects. I enjoyed this season too.
I hope we both enjoy that book.

Interesting to read about the Bridgerton inaccuracies. I hadn’t picked up on them. Two films recently which had us laughing at inaccuracies were Eurovision and Churchill. Eurovision is meant to be set in Edinburgh where I live and some of the driving sequences are impossible. They drive down one street and turn into a street in a different part of town! And in the other film, Churchill is meant to be on the beaches in the south of England but is actually on the beaches near here which was obvious to us from the islands in the background. I’ve only watched the first three episodes of Bridgerton 2 so far but am really enjoying it. 😍

I haven’t watched those movies but that’s interesting. we pick up inacuuriacies when we’re familiar with things or topics or some aspects. You wouldn’t notice that about Bridgerton if you haven’t known. It’s really fun and enjoyable season with more drama than first season.
