Weekly Wrap up

Hello Readers! I hope you’re enjoying the cold days of December with a hot drink, warm blanket, and cozy reads. Last week was not bad compared to the previous week. We all feel much better with relief from the seasonal cold and I managed to read two books. Now I need to read three more to reach goal of 100 books. I don’t know if it’s possible unless I binge read books without writing any reviews or posts that is something hard to do. I finally managed to make list of best books I read in2021 that I’ll post later this week or next week. I still need to write posts on year-end round-ups that keep procrastinating. Is it just me or you too feel like there so much to read and to do when the year-end nears?

Last Week I Read-

The Trouble with Half a Moon by Danette Vigilante

I read Tia Lugo Speaks No Evil by the same author in August this year and it wasn;t as good as I exected so I went into this blind without having any expectations and surprisingly this turned out much better. I enjoyed this story of Dellie’s life after her brother’s death, a middle grader going through loss, grief and guilt with other issues a teenager face at school and in friendship and how she got over her guilt, learned to believe in herself and have faith through a five years old boy whose mother was abusive. This gives such a clear picture on everything through middle grader’s perspective. There were so many layers in the book and I liked the message of faith through half moon and title taken from it was perfect.

Fading Stars : A Short Story Collection by Tanmay Kulkarni

Now I didn’t enjoy this collection of stories. Writing was, I don’t know how to say this without sounding rude!! It was juvenile. I could see author didn’t have much experience of writing and it’s first attempt of writing stories. It felt like I was reading a journal where ideas for the story and line that came up while writing was dumped jotted down and then it was published. I still need to write review on this, and author wanted honest opinion even after knowing my reviews aren’t going to be roses so I love his spirit. Let me just say there is flowery writing and there is overdone unnecessary details of small things and this was the later and I’m not fan of this kind of writing that just adds words counts.

Next I’ll be reading-

Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery (Little Beach Street Bakery #3) by Jenny Colgan

It’s Christmas in the Cornish coastal village of Mount Polbearne – a time for family, friends and feasting.

Polly Waterford loves running the Little Beach Street Bakery. She’s at her happiest when she’s creating delicious treats and the festive season always inspires her to bake and knead something extra special for the village residents. In fact, the only thing she loves more than her bakery is curling up with her gorgeous boyfriend, Huckle. She’s determined that this Christmas is going to be their best one yet, but life doesn’t always work out as planned…

When Polly’s best friend Kerensa turns up with a secret that threatens the life Polly and Huckle have built together, the future begins to look uncertain. And then a face from Polly’s past reappears and things become even more complicated. Polly can usually find solace in baking but she has a feeling that’s not going to be enough this time. Can she get things back on track so that everyone has a merry Christmas?

This is last in Little Beach Street Bakery trilogy and I can’t wait to read this as Christmas is nearing and this time I haven’t read any Christmas book and I feel it’s crime not to read one for this season. I can’t wait to see how author would wrap up this trilogy.

Thank you for reading! Let’s chat…

Have you read any of these books or added to TBR? What are you planning to read this week?
