Wrap-Up

Monthly Wrap-up : December 2020 #Wrapup

Hello Readers! I hope you all are great and excited for 2021 and I’m sure many of you must be feeling relieved this year is over while writing December wrap up post. December wasn’t best month of the year as I took many breaks and I hardly had time to read. I always find it difficult to get back to normal routine after break or change in life and that’s why I delayed in writing many end of the year posts I usually write every year. It’s New Year now so I’ll start reading and writing properly and going to set some proper schedule to manage everything.

Christmas Island by Natalie Normann — [Review] ★★★★☆  / / Christmas Read, Romance / / What I loved most was Norwegian folklore, tradition, customs, food, Norwegian words for traditional food and their meaning, how they celebrate Christmas, and festive and atmospheric description of island. If you love less drama and slow romance you will like this.

All I Want for Christmas by Wendy Loggia — [Review] ★★★☆☆ (3.5) / / Christmas Read, Contemporary Romance / / Setting of bookstores gave life to the story. There was everything one want in Christmas book – Ice skating, sledding, Christmas tree farm, Holiday Carnival, winter wonderland at mall, meeting Santa, brightening someone’s holiday, and last-minute Christmas shopping. Love triangle trope was okay. I wish there was more depth to characters and development. I recommend this to anyone who love Christmas like Bailey would enjoy.

New Year’s Kiss by Lee Matthews — [Review] ★★★★★ / / Holiday read, YA romance / / out of all holiday reads I read, I enjoyed this most. There was flying paper plane, skiing a black diamond slope, meeting famous star, singing in public, lots of drama, fun, and entertainment.  If you want uplifting quick read, you should try this.

Warmaidens (Gravemaidens #2) by Kelly Coon — [Review] ★★★★★ / / High Fantasy / / What drew me in the story was healer trying to be killer and Kammani’s constant inner battle to use her skills for death than saving life and sticking to her principle of ‘do no harm’. What I loved most was dark vibe boatman gave. It was epic fantasy, even better than Gravemaidens, with thrilling plot, well written theme and characters, dark setting, perfect ending of this duology.

A Study in Scarlet (Sherlock Holmes, #1) by Arthur Conan Doyle — [Review] ★★★★★ / / Classic, Mystery / / It was fun to read introduction of Sherlock. I enjoyed all the description on his method of deduction, details of his observation and how he could see all minute details and figure out even height and age of murderer. I liked the layer of Mormon culture, patriarchy, church’s crime and power that made people live in fear, restrictions, and in prison of their own land and house. It was perfectly well written classic whodunit murder mystery, a great, unputdownable, and enjoyable introductory novella of the series.

The War Widow (Billie Walker Mystery #1) by Tara Moss — [Review] ★★★★★  / / Historical Fiction, Mystery / / Sydney of 1946- style, fashion, streets, places, and how war changed things in city- was brilliantly described. I liked how author mixed realistic and fictional aspects of history. I could see the extensive research author must have done in writing the story. It was best book to end the year with. I highly recommend to fans of mystery and historical fiction set in Post WW II era.

Best book of the month-
